If you don't like what you do and you are only doing it for the money, then you are probably describing what 80% of the population feel; we are all in the rat race.. work for money.
But don't ever settle, if you are willing to do something that you are more passionate about and are willing to take less money, then why not? Why not become a teacher, why not work for non-profit. Your life is yours and what you find important to you can only be determined by you.
It does sound like you hate your job, but that is literally alomst anyone with a job. It is never too late to change careers and it is never too late to go out and do what you truly love.
Weight your options and pick something that will make you happy, you will be smiling more, stress less, and live longer; which is all worth more to me than an extra $10-20k a year.

For the last three years I had wished I had finished my education to be where you're at. You're in a growing industry, especially with the baby boomer generation. The money is good, I have friends that do what you do. I've been in Real Estate for the last 4 years and I have no regrets. I've had tough times as well so you just have to work through it. The California market has forced me to work much harder and spend more time thinking outside the box to make sales. What you need to ask yourself is if you enjoy working with people and if you like the challenge of acquiring new accounts. Everyone above is right; You need to find something you're either passionate about or a hobby. What goals do you have for your life? Where do you want to be in 10yrs? 20 yrs? I think if you can't see success in the field that you're in Real Estate should be your first place to look.

I have been a drug rep for the last seven years. The job is changing and it isn't as fun as it used to be. It's not as glamorous as it sounds. I feel your pain. I contemplated leaving for the past couple of years. I would get my bonus and win lots of awards and think I was nuts for thinking otherwise. In the end, I have decided to quit my job and go back to school. I will remain in the healthcare industry, but in a different way. Search your skills and options. The companies don't have the loyalty to you that they used to and there will be many changes over the next 10 years.

Its a phase. We all go through it with our jobs. Try to schedule fun things to do in the evenings or at lunchtime. It will help the day to go faster and give you something to look forward to.
Try to take some classes or take up a new hobby also.

It's a phase. Keep your job. We are at an economic/job slump.
Get a relaxing hobby to take your mind off work.
