I am 34 years old and getting ready to finish up for speech language pathology. My mom is 54 and just went through rigorous training for fireman, police officer, EMT training so that she could have a job at a power plant. It is NEVER ever too late. You can do it. It is nerve racking but just immerse yourself in it and be glad you chose to do it. Remember in one year you will be 54 whether you have completed the RN degree or not. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you've been working as an LPN, you have a lot of the knowledge that you'll need to succeed in your RN training - and since you know pretty well what the RN job will entail, you won't be surprised there. No, you're not too old. It's natural to feel a little overwhelmed - you probably haven't been in formal classes like these for a lot of years. Good luck.

You already did the hardest thing== stopped talking about doing it and started doing it.
Very honestly, if you've been out of school a while, your study habits are a bit rusty. But don't walk away from it. It'll setttle down, and you'll be just fine.
Will it be worth the hassle so you can sign "RN" behind your name? As if I have to ask!
Goodluck.

I am getting ready to do just the same thing in August. I am 43 and I too am very nervous. But, I know I want to do this and I will face whatever obstacles come my way.
As far as being too old, no way.
It may be nerve racking for the first few months, but you will eventually get into the flow. Besides, for courses you may be struggling with, there are free tutors to help you and you shouldn't worry about asking for help.

Dave Thomas was born in 1932 and started Wendy's in 1969.
"Thomas, realizing that his success as a high school dropout might convince other teenagers to leave school, something he later admitted was a mistake, became a student at Coconut Creek High School. He earned a GED in 1993".
So, Dave Thomas went back to school when he was 60-61 years old?

there is no age that is too old to go back to school or even to go to school for the first time. and with your age you will be more mature and serious about your education and learning, so that is a postitive thing to look at. i am 30 and i am finally getting my degree after several failed attempts. keep your head up and you will have that degree in no time, congratulations on the great decision you have made. we are never too old to make a good change in our lives. :)

You're never too old to go back to school. You can do it if you believe in yourself. I will be going back to school and I will be 39. Almost 40 and no career, but at least I am not feeling sorry for myself. You are in control of your life.

You are not too old- there are people far older than you who have successfully begun new careers. Believe in yourself and the rest will follow!
