ok, so I have 1 misdeamenor on my record that I never was convicted of.I was in jail overnight, got bailed out a couple of weeks later I simply signed a paper, paid a $100 court fine and never heard about it again(this happened may of 2004). Ive had probably 5 different jobs since then and I recently got fired from my latest job after working there a month because I failed to disclose this information, but since I was never convicted in court for this Ive never put this on a job application. should I start putting this incident on my applications?

Who has the opportunities, (in the U.S.) to start/own your own business. I would like to start my own business. But in todays society I'm not sure that everyone has all the opportunities to do this. Do you need a degree, lots of money, good credit, and does ethncicity effect your chances, of getting the help and support that one needs from government programs, and other organizations? All help is appreciated.

Rx pain pills that is (yes I know they are narcotics). I had been moving with a girlfriend all day long a few weeks ago. At the end of the day my body was hurting and tired. She gave me two of her prescription pain pills. I had to take a pee test within the next few days for a job offer. I have taken many pee tests in the past and they were checking for illegal substances. When did they start testing for Rx?
The urine test for the job showed the pain pills. Now I might not get the job. H.R. is deciding what to do with the situation right now.
I understand that the pills were in my friends name and I cannot prove the prescription is mine. I admitted to that. Should I be denied this job because of this situation?

As I understand, most states require you to graduate law school to qualify to take the bar. Must you go to law school to practice patent law? How does one get started in the field? Thanks in advance for any info.

I am so embarrassed. I interviewed 3 days ago for a job. The employer said he'd get back to me the next day and DID NOT phone me, so I thought I didn't get it. My dad ended up calling both the managers to see what happened (yes, my dad). Then today I get an EMAIL saying I got the job, and I have to send my schedule of availability.

Should I just forget my dad called them? What do I do now? He left messages on both their answering machines...

This guy I work for dumps excess work on us and then when we cant keep up with it, he uses that reason for an excuse to deny us raises. Other than quitting or strangling him with a telephone cord, how have have other people sucessfully handled this type of situation?

I have a State job, and I'm at the end of a year-long probationary period. During my first 2 months of employment, I had 3 instances of petty misconduct (attending an out-of-office meeting w/o accompaniment, playing a sudoku puzzle on MS Excel, and coming back late from lunch). I was counseled on these incidents but was not terminated. At the end of the standard 6-month probationary period, they elected to extend the probation period, rather than give me permanent status or terminate me. Since then, I've had no incidents of misconduct, but I've heard rumblings that my boss is concerned I may simply not be a good fit for the job and may not receive the appointment.

If I'm terminated due to failing a working test period, could they successfully argue that I'm not entitled to unemployment due to incidents of misconduct that took place over 8 months ago? Or would they have to prove my termination was immediately precipitated by misconduct?

Thanks!

I want to apply to be a usps carrier, so i went to the site, you have to take the exam first obviously. well i didnt know my application number so i searched it, and my city was not listed, but two cities about a half hour away were on there. does that mean they arent hiring in my area or just that you can't take the test here.

One job my daughter is interested in is becoming a lawyer and rather than working at an ice cream parlour we were wanting to see if anyone knew if law offices ever hired teens for summer employment. Honestly I don't care where she works, but we just wanted to check out all the options.

Thank you!

I'm not talking calling references, I mean doing the formal background check that they do with the background check company to see your real work history.

I know that you have to agree with it and sign off for it, but how often do they actually follow through on it? Or, because it's retail do they really not care about it? If they are really desperate for workers, will they just skip that step?

Who is more likely to do it, small stores or big stores?

I had to sign a 'confidentiality' form when I was working there, what gives her the right to send my personal details to a company, even if she does think it will help me to get a job.
I think she should have asked for my consent first.
I have tried to discuss it with her, but she is continually in meetings, won't answer her phone or voicemail. She agrreed to see me yesterday, I knew I was going to be 10-15mins late (my fault) so I txt her, she got the text, and in the end I was only 10 minslate, however when I arrived at the office, I was told that she 'was in a meeting'. I spoke to someone else, but I really want her to speak to and acknowledge what she has done, as a 'Volunteer' I don't have many rights, so I would appreciate any help or advice that anyone can offer. I am sure their are other people in this position, so it may help them as well. I have tried my best to contact her, but she is avoiding me. I only want what's right.
