I work a temp job in a medical office (a branch office of a national corporation) where one of the permanent office clerks likes to say "everyone is the same" in response to demanding patients that are more "accomplished" careerwise or in reference to corporate office holders and their sometimes demanding requests. I am very conflicted on this question and wonder what other people think. I believe that everyone is equal on a spiritual level and that everyone should be treated civilly - but not quite sure if worldly accomplishments should be ignored. For instance, I believe a medical doctor has accomplished a lot and provides a noble service to society and should be treated with the commiserate respect. The woman that says all are equal is a nice person who didn't go to college and part of me thinks that she wishes to lower the "status" of others in order to raise hers. Seems that she may have a chip on her shoulders (albeit somewhat repressed). Any thoughts?

I love the place, I love the people, I am not getting the *we love you back* feeling. That might just be me or I might be doing something wrong. If it is me, I want to fix it of course. If it is someine else just being a pain in the ***, I would like to be able to perform my job well and not have them distract from my progress. Additionally, I don't want there to be any problems since a company is ultimately a team. Ideas? Appreciated.

How would you feel if a black woman wore her hair in 'locks' (dred locks) that were neat? Would you feel that it detracted from her professional appearance? Is this type of style appropriate for a doctor (in training)? Please be honest (but kind) as I am contemplating making a major change with my hair.

I am searching for the legal limits a person can lift in the work place, and lifting standards in Texas. I've tried OSHA with zero results. I am concerned for my fellow workers lifting heavy weights in excess of 100 pounds, and injuries are mounting.

How do you? Let's say you're in my shoes: I had an injury and illness that kept me from work for two weeks. None of the managers or supervisors know my work and there are 3 managers and 4 supervisors. Nobody else is trained as a back up to my desk, except one person whose spot I took, and three co-workers in my unit. One of the co-workers is behind like myself, one is a month ahead, and the other is new and in training. I have had relatively no help and the help I get, I end up correcting. Now I have bosses breathing down my neck to get caught up and get things right. The stress is absolutely unbearable. How would you handle this? How do you deal with this?

I caught my director and my assistant director talking about me in front of the public (I work in a public setting). I didn't clearly hear what was actually said, but I figure that it wasn't complimentary, by the expression on both of their faces. The truth is, this wasn't the first time that I have caught them doing this. My first week, I caught two other co-workers saying detrimental things about me. How do I deal with this?

Where i worked was a entertainment center-casino- I was short a certain amount that i was willing to pay at the end of my shift that same nite...yet it ended up just a bit more shorter, which shocked me so bad that i got sadly upset...my work record was very good only had one other shortage of 20 bucks and i paid it, during the 9 months i was there and even got promoted...all i want is if they want me there i want my anme cleared of impending damage to my reputation...they say they know where the money went but wont let me know anything and my nerves have been on edge...not to mention that its my only income for me and my son.now what do you all think of this situation?

If One has a master's degree in business adminisration from an accredited university, can he get a good job* with that degree in the same field, even if he has no working experience earned while he was preparing for his masters ?

*good job= a "real" job, that covers all of his expenses(rent, car, regular expenses, yearly savings , etc..at least 20,000 to 25,000 dollars a year as a start)

When I apply for new jobs and they ask "may we contact your employer?" what can I say? I don't want them to because of my work situation, but I also don't want to draw attention to it.

I know legally they can't say much, but it would be hard to prove and I think the assistant manager might have already sabotaged me once.

How many employers actually call the current/last employer???
