I am wondering if I work on this holiday if I should be getting paid time and half or just regular pay? I work full time but my boss is trying to get out of paying me extra. Thanks.

I am working tomorrow and we will get paid time and a half.

You should really be gettting double time and a half. If you were not working you be eligible to get paid for the day at regular time. Holiday pay. Working, you get time and a half PLUS the holiday pay, unless you get another day off for it in the future.

We will get an extra day off for it at Thanksgiving in October, for a 4 day weekend. So tomorrow we will get time and a half for working it, plus the day off at Thanksgiving.

I work in Ontario.

Don't listen to Ron B. it is NOT a regular workday.

The first monday in August is only a Civic Holiday, not a Statutory one. A civic holiday means that only the government and post offices are closed. Everything else, like malls and restaurants are open and it's a regular day of work.

The Civic Holiday is a legal one and your boss can be taken to account by the government.Call the Labour Relations Board.
