I didn't turn in taxes for 2006. Due to an error my husband made claiming his dependents, we owed $700. Had we filed seperate returns, I would have got $600 and husband would have owed $1400. I know it was wrong to do, but we didn't have the money so we just never sent in our taxes.

We definitely need to file our taxes this year! In Oct, had a baby so we'll have child tax credit. Husband corrected dependency error from last yr. I quit my job in Feb when pregnant due to medical problems, so our income this year is approx $25,000 less than it was last year.

How should we go about filing our tax returns? Do we send in two seperate filings for 2006 and 2007? Will they automatically deduct what we owe from '06 out of our '07 taxes? Or will we get our taxes back from '07 and have to send in '06s? Would it be better for us to file married seperate or together as I had taxes due back last year? How will last year change how we need to file this year?

Thanks for any help!

I'm new to investing and opened up a long position and a short position at the same price of 54 per share. 300 shares both ways. Knowing that most likely the stock was going to drop I would eventually get it at a lower price if this happens because every dollar loss in the long position is a gain in the short position making it even out. It has gotten down to 45 and I want to buy to cover and close out the short position, since I think this is a bottom. My hope was to gain when the stock goes back up, but I was unaware of this contructive tax rule I have been reading up on the IRS website http://www.irs.gov/publications/p550/ch04.html#d0e8897 it is very confusing and if someone can help clarify my position or give advice on what to do it would be greatly appreciated. Because it seems like if I do the wrong thing the tax consequences could be killer. Thanks!

So I really need to get second a job after Christmas to make some money to pay off (what else) annoying bills. I would like to work at Macy's or some clothing retail store (like Express or Pac Sun)...I'm a guy btw...how hard is it to get hired at these kinds of stores? Are most hiring or is it unlikely? Also, do you usually apply online or at the store?

Ok, earlier this year I failed my third attempt at college and in the process I lost my financial aid and I'm on academic suspension. The truth be told that I really didn't know what I wanted to do and I was also lazy and heavily depressed. Things have changed now and I know now that I want to be a Journalist. Do I need college? If so, then what should I do or should I give up? If not, then is there another way?

I've passed my PTCB and am trying to get a job at Humana. However, their website has NO job descriptions. Every single job they have listed is simply a copy/pasted generic job description, worse, the job title doesn't tell me what it is either. I need to apply soon, but I have no idea what to apply for. Anyone know what ANY of theses are?

Pharm Tech Dr. Call
Pharm Tech Exceptions
Pharm Tech DMS

Which one would you guys recommend for a first timer? And more importantly, what the heck do they do? I was told Pharmacy Techs are usually either a tech, prescription filler, or in data entry. I had no idea there were so many positions. If it helps at all, I am only applying in mail service pharmacies, not the normal ones.

Thanks so much!

I am a new landlord in New York and need some advice from experienced landlords. I am renting out a co op apartment unit to two roommates in their 20s. I recently spent tens of thousands of dollars completely renovating the apartment, so I want to protect my investment the best I can. I took 1 months security deposit from the tenants. Since I spent tens of thousands dollars renovating the apartment, I would like to make sure I can hold back the most amount of money I possibly can in order to cover for any and all damages once they move out. How can I successfully hold back the security deposit should they do any type of damage to the apartment? Has anyone had any experience with this?

thank you

I had a membership with Stamps.com, when I cancelled my account; I was refunded my remaining balance by check in mail. When the check was in process, I called them to confirm and now, just yesterday, I have received another check of the same amount, it is clearly their mistake.

So, what should I do with that second check?

I accepted a much better paying job but I'm not bringing home that much more...what should I do?

I accepted a better paying job because my common law husband is unable to work due to medical issues. I'm actually only bringing home 600.00 more a month. What deductions should I have taken out of my check to get my tax rate down.

I am presently claiming 0 head of household. In previous years I claimed 1. I used to pay for half of my medical insurance. My present employer pays all of my our medical insurance. I'm not having money into retirement yet but my employer is putting money into my retirement. I just started having 150.00 a month into a medical flex plan. What else can I do to be taxed at a lower rate but not have to pay a bunch of taxes at the end of the year.

Ok another real quick question.

I am trying to straighten out my life here it is fairly horrible. I and my husband owe a lot of debt about to get a house in or name.
the house is worth more then are debt isn't there something we can do so we don't have to file bankruptcy?

We don't have the deed and this stops us. We can't afford the fees but the house is worth more then or debt alone and would free us from debt isn't there anything els we can do to take care besides banktruptcy?Sorry I am just trying to figure out my life and , trying to see if others might no a easier way.

My dad is in the navy, and we just moved back to Norfolk VA. from Japan. They had lots of different foods, but they had a really sweet tea, and it can be made into frosties, or warmed up, it's really versatile, and tastes fantastic. Some numbers i found showed tea stands who sold these in California and Washington Markets... (West Coast near Japan, but also home to other naval bases) did very well. Thus i want to start a shop at the mall near Norfolk (The biggest naval base in the US) I think it would do very well here too, and once word spread, others in the area which is fairly high class would want to try the product as well. Does all this seem logical? I need other peoples views, and my mom is really sick of hearing all of my business ideas. Any comments or suggestions would be really appreciated! Thanks!!!
