Born in 2007, deduct in 2007.
Born in 2008, NO deduction in 2008.
The due date does not count for tax purposes. Period.
Also, be timely with your paperwork at the hospital. You'll need to wait on the social security card and information to come back before you can file your return.
Best of luck!

As long as she is born before the end of the year (midnight the night of 12/31) you can claim her as a dependent for 2007.

ONLY if she is actually born before midnight Dec 31, 2007. It's a real nasty penalty if she's born even an hour into 2008 and you claim her on 2007 taxes. (Sorry, I sure aint the one making the rules)

yep
If you have your little angel at 11;59 on December 31,2007 s/he is a tax write off for the entire year
CONGRATS
(and you should be able to because it is not like you werent preparing for the baby for months before s/he arrived.
Clothing, furniture, strollers, doctors appointments etc were all expenses that you had before s/he arrived.
GREAT TIMING

If she's born any time before 12:00am January 1st, yes. IOW, if she's born at 11:59pm December 31st, you're good to go.
