I have a checking account w/ Wamu and a certain amount in it. I know it doesn't have interest rate - basically, if I got $1,000 in there, then if I were to withdraw $500, there would be only $500 left. And if I deposit $200, there would now be $700. Basically, it's deposit/withdraw type of account.

Now, I just got a gift from a relative for $35K. That money will be use to pay new monthly mortgage. Now, someone told me to put that money in a saving account. However, I am confused on what it means to have an interest rate for them. For $25K to $49K, the interest rate on a "Guaranteed Great Rate Money Market Account" is 1.88 and APY of 1.73.

Does that mean, money get deducted each time I deposit from my saving account? Say, I deposit $2,000, then it would only be (2,000 - 37.6) = $1962.4 that gets deposited?

In that case, wouldn't it be better getting an additional checking account without the deduction? or monthly service charge?

Hi,
Me and my girl friend has been together for 6 years, and recently we just bought a house together. (back in July)
We are both from Taiwan, and she just took her three weeks vacation back to Taiwan for last 3 weeks. When she got back yesterday, she suddenly told me she decide to move back...
She did not discuss with me before and she just selfishly made the decision.
I do not want go back and do not wish to sell the house now.
The problem is now she is the only one on the mortgage (since she has a better credit score so that's what we did) but we are both making payment and both of our names are on the title.
How can we transfer the mortgage name to me? is it even possible?
Please help...
Thanks

a lien be put on my other property? My home is listed as my homestead but I will be moving to live in my other property and will list that as my homestead instead. The bankruptcy is the type where I still make payments to the trustee for my debts.

I have rented my investment property for 1 yr before living there for 3 yrs. After 1 yr of renting I have a buyer for my investment property. If I transfer the investment profit to my primary residential loan(age of loan is 1 yr and 1 month) will I still have to pay the taxes on the gain?

If I want to deduce from the profit all the small home improvement expenses(for these 4 yrs I have owned it) like paints, light fixtures, storm door, garage opener etc producing the receipts is it acceptable or only major ones will account?

If I want to pay a part of the profit for my new car loan(7 months old), will I have to pay taxes? Can I split the gain to pay my car loan(direct check from buyer's bank to the car dealer) and the rest for primary home loan? In this case how will the taxes be? Can I pay for my primary home improvement (direct check from buyer's bank to home improvement company) without paying taxes?

If there are any taxes how much % will that be? I appreciate our replies.

He didnt pay the money that he was suppose to and it was in the contract. so he breach the contract right there it has been close to two years and he still havent paid. not a dime. i was thinking maybe to give me some time to get the money to me that is way over due now. and he havent. i see he isnt going to pay. that isnt right for someone to have something they didnt pay for.and second he didnt sign the contract dont there have to be the seller and buyer sign the contract to complete the sale? can i get the property back and can i take the guy to court to get it enforced and back into my name.? thank you for your help. is there anything i can do? Once again i live in the state of NY and the contract is on file at the county on their records.

Has any of you good folks had a similar experience?
I was awakened today by the doorbell ringing, when I went down I saw a car driving away and a pile of papers attached to my front door. When I started reading I saw it is addressed to the previous owener of the house (we bought it just last summer), and it is called "Garnishment Summons" - I have no idea what that is. Apparently, the previous owner owed some 3,000 dollars to Wachovia Bank, and now they are coming for it... to our home.
Do you think I should just ignore it because it is not against us or does the fact that we live in this house now makes us liable in place of the previous owner? That would suck big time! I know we have some insurance against liens and judgments we bought along with the house, but even if we contact them,I am still not sure what to do with the summons. Throw it away?
Thank you for your answers.
