I'm a single 23 year old female with no dependents (unless there's a way to get creative). I make barely over $29,000 a year before taxes. Between state (CA), federal, and social security, I'm getting hit with about $500 in taxes per paycheck. It's insane! I pay about $289 to the fed, $60 to the state, and almost $150 in soc sec. That turns a $2447 monthly check into $1797 (the extra is benefits and such). I haven't claimed any allowances of any kind, as I just can't think of any that apply to me. I've got no assets and a whole bunch of credit card debt I could be paying off with that money.

Anyone got any ideas?

I live in Vietnam and have been designing and selling bikinis here for over a year. Now that I am confident with the quality of my product I would like to get my bikinis into stores in other countries. What's the best way to get that done? I have to focus on smaller stores, not the chain variety.

Thanks for your input and Merry Christmas!

Do you have to compete to get a Section 8 tenant, or are they asssigned to you by the government, or how does that work? I am going to buy a rental house and as a plan B I might want to get a Section 8 Tenant if I cant get the house rented..or is that a better plan than renting it to somebody not on Section 8? I guess my main question is, is it easy or hard to fill your vacancy with a section 8 tenant, and how do you do it?

Thanks!

Is there some (for lack of better terms) deadband, like with rewriting your will, or buying an extended warrentee for your car? Or would the spouse collect even if the ink was still wet? If there are a lot of different ones, which ones would have the shortest delay after signing.
Don't get preachy on me or anything, I'm just a Gen X'er and I don't like taking risks or waiting for anything.

About a month ago I was checking prices on flat screens in my local Sears and I asked a simple question about the monthly payments on a Sears card. The guy signed me up for a Sears card when I clearly told him I didn't want one. Anyways, I received the card in the mail about a week ago and I still have not activated it. I read that it is hard to get a Sears card...why is that? I have a $3,000 limit and I would like to cancel it without even activating it. Do I just call Customer Service? Will they charge me for cancelling it without activating it? Or does that even matter? Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to get all my past due debts paid off. I started by calling a credit card that had gone to collections late this year, then was sold after that to a lawyer. The law firm was so obnoxious that I called the original creditor and had them give me the name of the collection agency they sold my debt to. I called them directly and set up three even payments over the next three months to pay it in full. They would only do payments they pulled from my checking account. I thought I was being responsible getting it paid. Now I'm worrying they will either clean out my account, or claim it's not paid in full after the payments. I got nothing in writing. Of course they claimed they would take me to court if I didn't agree to EFT payments. What should I do?

I am teaching a student who will be moving to Taiwan soon. I'm teaching basic life skills in English but I'm American and have never been to Taiwan. Do they write checks there (How do you pay bills?)? What kind of appliances does the average home have? When does school start and end (times of day and times of year)? What holidays are important there and when are they? If something costs 1.50, how would you say that in words (in the U.S. we would say "a dollar fifty")? What kind of public transportation is available? Do you have to separate trash? Do people understand and speak English? How about Japanese? What are some things you might find in a supermarket that would be different from what you would find in other countries? Which side of the road do you drive on? What kind of bank accounts do you have? Do you get paid by check or is it mostly direct deposit or cash? How often is payday? What are some typical dishes there? Can you bargain everywhere? Any and all answers appreciated!

I was behind 6 months when I filed the Ch. 13. My new lender (Aurora) says that my account is in good standing. It's not even being handled by the Bankruptcy Department, It's being handled by their Customer Service Department. Could Aurora have paid off the entire loan when they purchased it from CIT. Or should I expect the past due amount to be paid through the Ch. 13 plan to CIT as planned. The other ironic thing is that the mortgage was due to increase Dec 1, 2007 on an ARM with CIT. Now the mortgage is the original amount again with Aurora? Weird!! But Exciting!!

I should probably start by saying I'm a poor student so don't judge how I have no money!!
Basically I took all of my available cash out of my account and so there was £6.82 left, and yesterday I deposited a cheque for £25 into my account (from my gran, bless her) and it shows that it's been paid in but it still says that my available balance is £6.82? Does this mean the cheque hasn't cleared or my account just hasn't caught up? I'm checking my account information online, does that affect it? I was told it would take 3 days for the cheque to go into my account (by a friend, not bank employee although he's employed by a different bank) and it's only been one.. any ideas?? Thanks a lot.
