Don't play house. Keep everything separate until you are married. As much as I love my woman, I would never commingle any of my money with hers. It's just asking for trouble. It may seem good right now but if something happens to the relationship it could suddenly turn really bad.

Get your own bank account and stop mingling funds. Also, do not get joint credit cards, any joint loans, or make joint purchases of large items like cars or homes.

When married people separate there's a court system set up to divide the marital property. There's nothing for boyfriend/girlfriend break ups.

When you get married, you share your income. Until then, go get your own account and make credit for yourself. That way should something happen, you are set up. And if you get married, I always liked having a stash so that I could buy extra things or special gifts without dipping into the kitty so that account will always come in handy and things would truly be a surprise.

Why can't you just open a bank account in your own name? Why does he have to be on it? You don't need credit to open a bank account. My boyfriend is Air Force, currently in Bagdad, we have joint checking and savings through USAA which is a military only banking service which offers totally free services like financial planning and lots of good advice. Or just head to a neighborhood bank, it sounds like there is no risk with opening a joint account with him, but since you arent married you should have your own account just in case.

No!
You need to look out for yourself and have your money separated out. If something happens to him or the relationship you will be in a very weak position. With no credit it would be hard to even get a nice apartment on your own if necessary.

Get your own bank account. You don't have to have credit to get a bank account. You should keep seprete account until/if you get married.

Not at all.

Because it's bad for you, it's bad for him - you guys must be accountable and responsible for your actions, good and bad.

A joint account always masks our mistakes cuz you can always blame the other one and, because of that, we make even more mistakes.

Godspeed !

I wouldn't, not until you're married. If things go wrong, you could lose everything.
