food will get donated or thrown out. If we can't get rid of it through sales it can sit in a loft until the next season to sell it again. If it still doesn't get sold, it will get sent back to the warehouse it came from. From there it gets sold off to discount stores, like Mardin's and Big Lots

No!! It is not true! No store manager or owner in his right mind would throw merchandise away. There are many outlets for unsold merchanside . A.G. Wright's. Marshalls, T.J.Maxx, Big lots, The hundreds of Dollar Stores, and chains all over the country as well as exporters to South America.

They're marked down for clearance; if that doesn't sell, its sold in bulk to a wholesale buyer. eventually, it ends up at a 99-cents store, a swap meet, or an outlet store.

Thrown away? Unlikely. Much is given to charities, both locally and throughout the world.
the only thing "thrown out' might be foodstuffs and other perishable items that are unfit for human consumption.

Not always, sometimes they return it to the vendor for a previously agreed upon vendor credit -- usually around 40%.
