My friend works on a combination base salary and commission pay structure. She has it clearly stated in her contract that the commission on any new or future business is 10% but has just been told that her commission has been cut in half to 5%. Is this legal in California?
Thanks!

I received a letter from my landlord via email stating an amount that I needed to pay for hot water and heating for the months of Sept 1-November 13th of this year even though I have lived here since June. I live in a commercial property and the space is about 700 square feet or less. She receives the bill for the entire property which has 2 other business in the same building. The amount that I was told to pay was 98 dollars and some change. She didn't scan me the official bill instead she typed up a document saying that this is what I owed her. I called up the utility company to find out the average monthly usage and was told it was one bill being sent out every month, but I would have to discuss it with the landlord. Is it pointless to ask the landlord for copies of the bills? Is it required by law that she provide me with official bills? I live in the state of PA. my lease states that she would bill me for the heat and hot water.

I've tried the IRS website, its too confusing. And I just want to make sure my Tax guy isn't overlooking something.
I claim head of household with 1 child. My annual gross is definitly under 40k. I'm single, and go to school part time.
He gives me Child Credit, Child care credit, and i believe I have Earned income credit as well.

Would anything else be possible?

I am almost at the mandatory required age to take distribution from my 457 Deferred Compensation Plan (city government retirement plan) otherwise I have to pay a penalty. What is the best way to take it to preserve my asset and pass it down to my children after my death, and not create a tax problem (meaning Uncle Sam gets a big chunk instead of my children at my death). Thank you all.

I am 3 years into college. I tried computer programming -- my first love and found I couldn't do the math. I love working on computers. I like to put them together, I know lots about the parts and Windows, and other things. I don't want to waste my money going back to school until I know it can lead to a job.
