OK I was wondering that if I applied for 4 credit cards and 1 Stafford loan within 6 months. How bad will this make me look on my credit scores..

The reason I was denied for the loan was because I didnt make grades.. But yea..

Is this bad? Is it bad to apply for other credit cards? Is it bad to apply for college loans?

Hi there, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I currently have a couple that is moving out of my rental property and I received a phone call from the new prospective landlord. One of the questions that he asked was "do they smoke?" Now I live here too; its a triplex. So I told the new landlord that yes one of them smoke (as I do as well) but I advised the landlord that there is children here so we all smoke outside. The landlord called them to tell them that they couldnt rent to them based on the fact that they smoke. I know a landlord can say no smoking inside the unit but can they refuse to rent to someone based on the personal choice to smoke?

I recently found out that my husband's x-wife bought a bunch of stuff in my husband's name when he was deployed in the middle east. She never paid on any of it. Now, 7 years later, I am married to him (he is in Iraq again) and the collection agencies are calling me. I paid off the first one that called but now I dont have any money left for the rest of them. What happens if I cant pay them? Can they sue me since it is in my husband's name (remember my husband is not in the country)? Can they take my car other possesions (which are in my name, not my husbands)? What is the worst that can happen and how long do I have before it happens? HELP!

I purchased a home seven months ago. Yesterday the real estate lawyer's office called me and said a mistake was made on our paperwork and they had undercharged me by $500. Apparently when filling in the forms someone in their office put $1000 as our deposit when in reality we only gave the seller a $500 deposit. When the real estates office paid every one out at the closing, that left a deficit of $500 on their behalf which they are contacting me now for. Can they do this or is or is it their mistake making it their loss. This sale was over and concluded a very long time ago. Is there a statute? Please help, Thank you.

I have never bought a house before and know nothing as to how to do it. I just figured I'd never be approved since I have very poor credit and I get paid "under the table" and wouldn't be able to prove my income. However, I hear all the time how easy it is for first time home buyers to purchase a home. Does anyone out there think I would be able to buy a home? If yes, can you tell me what steps to take?

I've been paying a slumlord for the lack of that word.I've had all that I can tolerate at this point,so I'm looking for a room for rent.I respect the fact that you are allowing me the opportunity, and I would be grateful.I work like 11 hrs.13 at the most,so paying is something you won't have to worry on.No traffic, kids,or pets with me!!And yes I can even stand a background check!!!!So if no games, jokes,I need the room this Friday.10/19/07

I'm applying for paralegal jobs in NYC (other boroughs, etc). Will I still be able to get call backs if I say:

I can begin work on (month/date/07)

or will I get less responses from employers? that's basically 3 weeks from the time I apply for the job....is that something people do? reason is, I need that time to get an apt. I'm in NJ but I don't wanna say that's why I need 3 weeks for a start date.

Why is it when they call and someone aswers and says "hello?" it takes them 5 to 10 seconds to respond? Are they tactfully trying to reach the person of interest by Voice recongnition or is it a delay or what? Whats the deal? I answer alot of calls at the front desk where I work and find it annoying when I'm busy, to have to wait up to 10 seconds for the person calling to say "Hello, can I speak to so-and-so..." To tell you the truth, It only takes 1 second for an intelligent human being to respond when someone says hello. It Frickin Kills Me!!!!!

Most of the economic rules are made by rich people. They dont realize how much the rest of us rely on credit. Its because they are out of touch. This whole economy depends on credit now with higher monthly payments I notice I am spending less. They need to change that rule real fast or we may have a recession!

Sometimes credit card companies send you a preapproved card & all you need to do is call the 800# & punch in the account number on the card to activate it, they are usually automated & dont require any info like social, or birth date or anything...my question is, couldnt someone just snatch that right out of the garbage, activate it themself & use it?

Before you all pass judgement... My father-in-law is going through a divorce and he cosigned a camper loan with his wife three years ago. It is a 12 year loan, and she is refusing to make payments on it hoping to ruin his credit (even though she is the primary). He has been making the payments, but is ready to let it go. So, if he were to stop paying it, is there a website that we can go to in order to find out exactly how many points it will lower his credit score?
