I'm applying for paralegal jobs in NYC (other boroughs, etc). Will I still be able to get call backs if I say:

I can begin work on (month/date/07)

or will I get less responses from employers? that's basically 3 weeks from the time I apply for the job....is that something people do? reason is, I need that time to get an apt. I'm in NJ but I don't wanna say that's why I need 3 weeks for a start date.

(correction - it's on my cover letter, not resume!).

I don't think it will be a big issue. The common norm for professionals is to provide 2 weeks notice when resigning. So you are not asking for much more. Best of luck with your job hunt.

Yes, it is fine to put that on your cover letter. A prospective employer will appreciate the information upfront but be prepared to be asked about it when it comes to the interview stage.

sure, that can affect the callbacks because some companies might want to fill jobs right away. but it is normal to state your start date.

If hired, tell them you'll start when it's damn well convenient for you. They'll understand.
