I have a friend who owns a home in Georgia, still is paying off the mortgage, but has recently moved to Massachusetts. He wants to get health insurance but is worried about taxes on the Georgia house. Is it possible to get a state ID for MA but still keep a license and car title for Georgia, at least for a few months? Is there any sort of grace period? He recently has become ill and needs health insurance. What is the best way to go about this, besides selling the house?

I am constantly applying for jobs. After I have submitted my job applications, how often should I check with employers to make sure they don't overlook my application and choose someone else? I discovered this problem today where I had applied for a job back in August. I was constantly contacting the manager expressing great interest in the job position. All I kept hearing was they were having some sort of difficulties (whatever that is) in the hiring process and nothing was available at that time. I saw this job in a job ad and part of the ad says "no experience needed, we will train". So I'm thinking cool I can handle this and the pay wasn't that bad either. All the times I have been asking about this job position and expressing all my interest for this job I got the "traditional" we will call you response, which sucks by the way. I checked on that job again today and found out the job was given to someone else. This always happen to me everywhere else and I am a good worker too.

The seller reduced the asking price to $90,000 today. The house has a foundation crack, with some damage to the bathroom walls. A repair inspection was done and the cost to repair the foundation totaled about $4,800 - $5,000.

Other than that, the house is in good condition, with original hardwood floors. I know the seller is anxious to sell the house.

This is for my retirement fund. The more I read about retirement (lack of cash flow vs inflation, especially), the more I want to build as large a cushion as possible. I really feel for kids today (by saying kids, I mean anyone from 0 years old to mid lifers who haven't started saving yet), as there's no one actively looking out for their welfare. Social Security was a mistake, but the Feds should actively encourage people to vigorously save on their own. If I were king, I would propose mandating everyone put away at least 5%, and up to 100%, per pay period in pretax dollars. It would grow tax free and couldn't be taken out any sooner than 3/4ths of the current typical life span (say todays life span is 85. 3/4ths would be about 64 years old). Have the SSA deposit whatever each individual has had deducted net of any disbursements into whatever savings vehicle the individual wants to kick the retirement account off to a good start. Whew!! Sorry about that. I get carried away.

Dear Friend,
One of our accounts, with holding balance of £12.500,
000,000 (Twelve Million Five Hundred Thousand pounds Sterling) in the
Nat-West Bank PLC London UK, has been dormant and last operated for
years ago. From my investigations, the owner of the said account, Is a
foreigner by name MR. JOHN SHUMEJDA who died along with his entire
family in crash at Birmingham Airport on 4th Jan 2002. View this

Since then, nobody has done
anything as regards the claiming of this money, as he has no family
member that has any knowledge as to the existence of either the account
or the funds; I have confidently discussed this issue with some of the
bank officials and we have agreed to find a reliable foreign partner to
deal with.

My proposition to you, is to seek your consent to present
you as the Next of kin and beneficiary of this late client, so that the
proceeds of this account valued a huge sum shall be paid to you, and
then we can share the amount on a mutually agreed percentage of 30% for
you, While 60% for me and others involved, 10% shall be used for
miscellaneous expenses.

This transaction is totally free of risk and
troubles as the fund is Legitimate and does not originate from drug,
money laundry, terrorism Or any other illegal act, funds will be
released to you after necessary Processes have been followed.

Sincerely Yours,
Mr. John Monk.

It is a center-hall colonial with 4 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms. The home is 2200 sq feet and sits on 1/2 acer. (A large lot for this town.) The house was built in 2001 and is in good condition. It is in a very nice neighborhood in the suburbs. Most of the houses in the neighborhood have sold for $250k - $350k in recent years. The neighborhood has a community pool and is within walking distance of a city park. My only concern is that there is a musty smell in the basement. The house is for sale by owner, so there are no realtors involved.
According to the county auditors web site, it was appraised for $236,000. I think the house is fairly priced, but the market in our area is very slow. I want to get this house for as cheap as possible, but I also want to make a reasonable offer.
THANKS!

I am reading Options Strategist by Marc Allaire. If I understand it correctly, both the downside potential and the upside potential is LIMITED with call spreads. Why would you want to enter a trade knowing that you cannot lose more than $500 but you can't make more than $500? It makes sense to limit one's downside potential, but I don't see the advantage of limiting one's upside potential.

I would like to sell my house myself, but in this market I am wondering if I am screwing myself. My house will probably only sell for $240k and I purchased the house for $228k. My profit margin is so small that I am very reluctant to use a realtor. Any tips from people who have sold thier own house? What were the challenges? I live in Southern New Hampshire.
