THERE ARE FOUR BEDROOMS IN MY HOUSE (IN CA) that i rent out of. she wants everyone to sign a 6 month lease. in the lease she will include that she is not responsible for finding tenants once a roommate moves out, we are. and if we cant find a tenant, then she will charge us for the extra room. the house is not in good shape, and she is not willing to fix anything. finding people to live there is very difficult. Is this ok or normal?????

Mom had an emergency surgery four months ago plus three set backs. Needs another major surgery to finish the first procedure once she is healthy enough. She is under 60 so does not qualify for medicare or medicaid. Applied for disability but that will take at least 3 mos to process, and if approved still won't be enough to meet the $3300/mo payment plan. Current monthly income is $911.00 from dad's social security. House is paid for but cannot get a reverse mortgage (too young) or a home equity loan (income too low). Parents have cashed in their IRAs and stocks (losing 40% in fees, penalties and taxes). NOTHING is left. About to be turned over to collection tho they've always had the best credit rating. Hospital has offered a 25% discount if they could pay the entire initial bill, but there wasn't enough stock/IRA money to cover even that.

Can we get the bill down to what an insurance company would pay for the same services? How do I find out what are "customary and reasonable fees"?

I paid my my mortgage late two months in a row. But have been back on track for the last 3. Was hoping my credit score would move back up soon because I noticed from my FICO score it went down quite a bit due to the late mortgage payments. And I have no new credit or anything. Actually paid off 2 credit cards that carried small balance like under $300 for both during that late period.

When you have a job and you are having medical coverage deductions taken out of your paycheck... do these deductions get taken out before taxes are calculated - like 401K. Or are they taken out of your net pay?

I had some back pay owed to my company for health coverage, and the money taken out of my paycheck for that changed what I owed for taxes this pay period. (because the back pay being taken out dropped me down a tax bracket for this particular paycheck)

I told my husband it's because medical coverage deductions are pre-tax, but he disagrees.

He thinks my company handled it incorrectly such that it appeared like I earned less this period, instead of the money I owed being taken out as a deduction, and he thinks our total taxes paid will end up short at the end of the year because of this.

I want to start a website and eventually put some google ad sense on it. Should I start it as a business from the beginning or wait until I make money. I hear sometimes you can claim something as a part time business and then claim a loss on it and you can write off expenses at the end of the year.
Is this true?

sometimes when I go to the convenient store I get taxed on it when I buy a coffee and some cookies. so I get confused. I know prepared food is taxed such as donuts or a breakfast sandwich but what about junk food (candy, chips, cookies, nuts etc.)

sometimes I'm told that it's taxable sometimes they don't tax me.

If it helps I live in houston texas.

Thanks.

I am based in the uk and am a uk citizen. I incurred a debt in usa [timeshare] - will the debt collection agency take me to court here? Will they send bailiffs? Will a uk court order me to pay? I have explained to the timeshare company my financial situation; I have never used the timeshare and hoped they might just sell it on - no such luck!

I have a few CD's that pay me a small amount of interest each year. I report this on my income tax as interest income.

I am told if I invest my money in a Municipal Bond Fund I will not be taxed the same rate as interest income because this will be capital gains.

What percent will I have to pay on capital gains on my income tax?

doesn't that mean that there will be alot of competition that I don't need to have.

The Alan Sugars and Bransons of this world grew their businesses at a time when it was not fashionable to be self-employed. And they made alot of money.
I fear that those people who follow in their footsteps will be the mugs of the future, just as much as the mugs who they made money from themselves when they started out.

So the real question is: In 20 years time, how will the neauveu rich have made their money?

My boyfriend is 28 and has never had a credit card because his father discouraged it. Now that I have talked him into getting one to build credit, he cannot get approved for one. He has applied for a Visa card, a credit card through his bank, and a gas card, but all turned him down. I know a store credit card is am option, but every time he applies without getting approved, it can hurt his credit. Does anyone have suggestions on how he can get approved or build some credit? I know financial advisors work more with investments, but would it be worth for him to talk to one about advice about his credit?

Im 23 years old and pay over a hundred dollars per paycheck towards social security. The program is doomed and theres no way I will get a check every month when I retire so why should I be forced to pay? Should'nt we be allowed to opt out and put the money we save towards are own retirement plans or spend the way we wish?
