On most of my job interviews (after telling them I was in the Army) they asked me if I could handle stress. Are they kidding?. Were they trying to be sarcastic? Do a lot of people think the army is just running around the woods shooting a rifle?

Most of these jobs I got turned down for made me start thinking there are a lot of military haters out there.

Last Sunday (Aug. 12th) my boyfriend discovered that he had a $23 NSF fee on his banking account for a recent rent check (due Aug. 1st) Our landlord apparently cashed them, and they cleared on the 9th (mine did) and he got the charge on the 10th. He immediately contacted the Landlord and offered to make get her a money order and drive it out to her if the check did indeed bounce. She told us that she would charge a $30 late fee for each day (the 1st through today--the 13th) that the check was late. That's $360 for a bounced check. In our lease, the details are a bit fuzzy, but it says there will be a $45 late fee for each bounced and returned check, plus any late charges (that are applicable). Are we in the wrong for believeing that we shouldn't be charged $360, but just a one day penalty since we offered to pay it immediately. We live in Florida, and as far as we can tell, the max that a lessor is able to charge is $40 on a rent check of $300 or more. References requested.

So if the guy that caught that 1million dollar baseball, and decides to keep it, and then dies, would the irs tax his estate the 35% of the 1million? What if he lost the ball? What if it wasnt worth anything anymore, only the 1 dollar walmart price? What if he sells it to his freind in another country who isnt a us citizen for 1 dollar? Will they tax him 350k for that 1 dollar he made?

Ok, I have an LLC with a dba on a retail store (California). I'm looking into completing the sale in the next 2months. I read somewhere that a business can be sold as the LLC as a whole, or be sold as assets being broken down. Is that true and if so, is the advantage in selling the entire LLC really at a 15% tax vs 33% tax braket?

Are there any tips in lower my capital gains tax on ($700k selling price). Meaning can I invest that gain into paying off my $400k mortgage and only have to pay taxes on the $300k or even buying a second home with $500k down and pay taxes on $200k?

to continue to do? She asked me for the "honest" truth. The honest truth is that I've been with my company for over 12 yrs and the job I'm performing now (for the past year) is something I'm not very happy doing. There are other jobs in the company, but we recently went through a major layoff.

I'm curious as to how you would have responded if your boss asked you this question. Mind you, I work for a very large "profit" organization.

I just recieved my Social Security Statement telling me what my benefits are as of my last years earnings. This may sound stupid but is there a way that I can cash out my earnings now? I am a student and am at the point where if I dont come up with the money I might have to drop out. I dont have a cosigner so I was wondering if this is possible. Any feedback would be appreciated
