I already have four people who'd want to start with me as a joint partnership. I have two graphics guys, me (a coder), and my friend Chris (also a coder). What else do I need, and who else do I need to get this going, and what would be my first step?

I have excellent health benefits in my current job. I don't have to pay for any doctor appointments, office visits, or prescriptions. Where can I find the same kind of benefits?

I am a solvent, stable, well-employed, credit-worthy individual. I bought a house 7 years ago which has more than doubled in value due to the market I'm in and of course, location-location-location. I have about $10k of debt (credit cards, automobile). To further increase the value of my home, I want to renovate my kitchen and bathrooms to the tune of about $16,000. Here's my big question: I've applied and been approved for a $30k home equity loan to finance the renovations and pay off the auto and credit card debt. Am I turning down the wrong road? Am I asking for trouble? I really, really hate debt. My home mortgage is [was] low and now I'm adding back another $30k.

I opted for the home equity loan vs. line of credit so that I got a fixed interested rate, which was important to me. I will pay off the home equity loan long before the term is up.

The return on the improvements will definitely more than double my investment in upgrading. Is this the right thing to do?

Hello All,
I am getting 35,000 in backpay wages and 10,000 for compensatory damages. I live in the state of Maryland and I just want to know how many taxes will the state take out? What tax bracket does the 35,000 fall in? I want to know exactly what I will be left with after taxes. I already know that they cannot touch the 10,000 because it is for compensatory damages. Thank You!

the family aknowledges that there was a verbal agreement but they refuse to honor it, they want me to sign a "rental" agreement now even tho I have been paying toward purchase all these years and I have made significant home improvements including, painting inside & out, new light fixtures, new sinks, floors, tile countertops etc. do I have a legal interest in this property and how do I exercise it? The owner always told me not to worry that everything was taken care of and that his family knew our agreement, I think they are getting ready to evict me since they also made an appointment with my 10 year old visiting grandaughter to bring in a realtor! I also received a threatening call on the 2nd that the "rent" was late, it wasn't due till the 10th with the original owner and there has been no new agreement other than the heirs demands. I need HELP!!! thanks....ph and did I mention I am poor and raising a grandchild as a single parent.

Loan has 6% interest first year and 5% for the years following. Can take as long as 15 years, if necessary.
Is it smarter to maybe max 401k to employer contribution and only put half of max amount in IRA? Then, use the money not put in the IRA to pay off the loan much faster...

I will be receiving a bonus at work that will be worth about $5000...My plan was was to put $2000 into my savings account and then use the other $3000 to pay off credit cards. I have $3200 on one card, $2700 on another, $600 on another and $2600 on another...My goal was to pay $500 on the $600 card....$1000 to pay off a car...and then use the remaining $1500 to pay on the highest interst card...the $3200 card.

Should I pay things this way or should I not put so much in savings and then pay more on the cards?

I will also be receiving another $8000 bonus in February in which I would again put $2000 in savings and use the remaining $6000 for the cards.

I have often thought about the number of times we pay Tax on a good in the USA. Example: A seed producer charges tax upon selling the seeds to a farmer. The farmer grows wheat and again pays tax on selling is wheat to a bread maker. The bread maker sells loafs of bread to a store and pays a tax. The store sells the bread to the consumer and we pay tax. This is just an example and some think I have often thought about we paid 4 to 5 times tax on the same item.

The house which they are trying to let out has got very good features, but because the agents are apparently short staffed they would allow veiwing(that too no more than 4 slots available) from 10am to 11.30am on Wednesdays!!!
The house has still not gone even after 5 weeks, and many interested clients like me are not able to view it.
Obviosuly they are not helping the vendor or the potential tenant..
Is there any way we can tackle this,or we just need to bear up??

and without doing a background check?

Are they desperate for the money? I'm trying to see things from their point of view, and I have no experience in recruiting.

True story--this is a "contract" position--and they wanted to start me "today"---and said they'll Fed-Ex drug test paperwork this week--and if I don't pass, what they'll do is terminate my contract. Currently, I have no contract. I have signed nothing. They haven't even checked my references---they only have my resume. Something doesn't feel right about this.

I would really like your opinion. Thanks!

My home has been foreclosed on but there was no successful bidder and the property went back to the mortgage company. I want to keep the home and told the mortgage company that I would be able to pay off the loan balance in three weeks if they give me the banks info that I need to complete the transaction. I know the mortgage company is not obligated to sell back to me. But what are the chances? I don't want to move out.
