My little sister married a real loser last year. The guy has not really worked steady and now to make matters worse she just found out he has not filed in three years. Will the IRS garnish her wages? she has not changed her last name. He told he that he has paid tax from his pay check so why file.

I own a Corporation, being the sole shareholder. I have loaned the Corporation money. What is this called in accounting when I do the books? I know a shareholder loan is when the Corporation loans money to the shareholder. I think, possibly it is capital or equity, but I could be wrong. And does anyone know what ledger number it is given. I believe it goes in the 3000's. Are there any accountants or bookkeepers out there that can shed some light on this?

I basically, want to buy a house in order to avoid paying for rent while going back to school. Then after I finish school I will sell the house. I will put 60% down, and have 3 years worth of mortgage payments/insurance/utilities/living expenses saved up.

I just got hired at a debt settlement company, they are new, just moved in to a building. The interviewer told me we have no benefits right now and have to take our own taxes out, but later it would change. I will be working 40 hrs a week 8-5, mon-fri.
I just wanna know if this is "illegal" in some way or is the company trying to get out of paying other taxes that pertain to its employees. I dont know much about this but I thought it was suspicious. Should I take the job?

My friend's boss demanded that she give her cell phone number, and said that was in case when she was not at work (off the clock) and they want to call to tell her to do something when she gets into the office, so she can. Also she wants her to give it out to company clients for the same reason. So far she has said "no", and her boss told her this could lead to dismissal. And no, the company will not be paying any part of her cell phone bill, since it is her personal phone. (State of NJ, by the way, if that makes any difference.)

Please give me a step-by-step account of how to start a business based in the state of Florida and can operate in all 67 counties. The business in question is a combined land clearing and leveling AND logging company. Also, I need all the advice on securing startup capital (and how to get business loans guaranteed by the SBA), how to get it as a certified woman-owned business, how to get government contracts, how to establish business credit, how to transform this startup into a thriving corporation, and whatever else is necessary.

Every practical lead and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. :-)

I recently decided that I wanted to move out of my apartment for several reasons. One of the main reasons is that one of my room mates moved her boyfriend in. Her boyfriend is addicted to drugs, doesn't have a job and doesn't pay rent. He has also talked about wanting to grow drugs in our apartment, etc. I don't feel safe around him or his friends and I just want out b/c our place is disgusting. I told my other room mates I wanted out and that they needed to sign the papers allowing me to leave, and then have her boyfriend either sign a new lease or pay them every month. They both said they wouldn't sign for me to leave. This same room mate also bought a dog and isn't paying the required fee to have it. I'm wondering if it is a good idea to tell the leasing office about all these problems and see if they can do something about it. I'm just not sure the best course of action to take. I've tried to find someone to replace me, but no luck yet. Any suggestions?

Each year we get about $500 back from NYS. Starting two years ago we have itemized, so we have to declare the refund amount as income and get taxed on it by the IRS. We were told it is illegal to increase our withholdings from our present correct 2. Our taxes are pretty easy since all we own is a co-op. My job claims they are deducting the right taxes. It seems somehow the IRS is penalizing us for overpaying our NYS taxes. Is this just the way it is?

Here is the story... I have lived here for 1 year on a lease... paid each month- yada yada.. the landlord offers a summer rental of 50% discount and $100 referal fee... My roomate moved out in May and I had my friend move in.. (I should be awarded $100)- he signed a lease for one full year... So in May I told my landlord I am not sure when I will move out so I will pay my new roomate/friend accordingly... Well she never came in May to inspect and give me back my deposit money $300... In June she tried to collect my portion of the rent from my roomate and he denied.. So my landlord comes in today - 2 months after my lease has ended and asks me for $450 ($150 for June/July and $150 in advance for Aug) ... I say "no way" - She still has my previos deposit of $300 and she owes me $100 for referral... my landlord says I didn't refer my new roomate/friend - and she needs to charge me cleaning fees (which she honestly doesn't) - then says I need to have all my stuff out by 8 am. suggestions?
