I don't want my SO to know if I'm getting a refund back or not. Is there a way that he could find out?

Yes, if they have the following 3 things:

Your SSN, your filing status on ur 1040/10401/1040ez, and the amount of your refund, then they can tell the status of your refund using the following application at the Irs website..

https://sa.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet?app=IRFOF

No, he can't find out unless you let him know. As far as the two people who say he can go online and find out - one of the pieces of info you need to check on the delivery of your refund is the exact amount of the refund, which you wouldn't have given him if you're trying to keep it secret. And the person who said if you worked you'd be getting something back obviously hasn't a clue, since many people owe and don't get a refund.

A possibly bigger issue - maybe he shouldn't be your SO if you can't trust him with the info that you are getting a refund. Think about it.....

Yes he can find out if he knows enough personl info in you. It has been a while but I think you can got to the IRS websites and check the status of your refund and it should come up if it was mailed or not. Sorry, you just better hope he isn't smart enough to check.

Only if he or she finds your copy of your tax return or you tell them. Tax returns are considered confidential and will not be discussed with anyone other the taxpayer without Power of Attorney.

Not to be rude, but if you worked, you gotta file your taxes, so obviously you'd be getting something back, right?

Why does it matter anyway? I'm guessing it's personal.

Check with the IRS. If you get one of those scam emails be careful.
