I have a contract to buy a house, I was suppose to close yesterday, 7/12, as stated in our contract, but my loan officer is not done with my mortgage.
The loan officer says we will be ready to close on 7/16...Now the seller and their agent are angered and have relisted the home (which was on the market 9 months when I made an offer) and claim they can keep my earnest money, and void any contracts.

Both the buyer (me) and the seller's real estate agents have now become worst enemies, and are threatening legal action...I'm shocked!

Just wondering if the seller can legally keep my earnest money, and relist because I'm a few days late to close due to my loan officer?
Are they overreacting? Am I screwed?

Need advice please!

i used a debit card to buy something online, and the next day, i got a cancellation e-mail, saying that they couldn't contact my "credit card" number. first of all, did they cancel it because i used a debit card, rather than a credit card? second of all, the money hasn't been restored on my debit card. is there anything i can do besides calling the bank to tell them about the problem?

Ok, let me know if I figured this right!! I bought a new car and traded my other car in, and I was $1795 upside-down on my trade in. The net cost of the new car is $18751. So do I take the $18751 and add the $1795 to get the cost that I'm going to have to pay the sales tax on?

How can I know whether to purchase title insurance for a home purchase? Apparently, title insurance covers the financial loss due to an unforseen legal claim against your right to ownership (such as an unrealized inheritance from a previous owner, unidentified liens, etc.). In most cases, title insurance for the lender is mandatory, but that just covers the lender. I am told that owner's title coverage will cost us around $400. That seems like a lot of money for an extremely small risk and is cash that can be used for dozens of other needed repairs. My real estate agent says that he has never purchased it for himself and that some people get it and others don't.

What would be a good basis for purchasing title insurance, and under what "safe" circumstances might it be considered flushing money away?

I've been suspended from ebay, and I'm doing the correct steps in order to get the account reestablished. But...if this doesn't work for some reason, couldn't I just open up an ebay account with a fake name and address? Basically "anonmyous", like john smith or something...after all, as long as I'm being a fair and honest seller, is that really ethically wrong? Ebay shut my business down for absolutely no reason(other than there faulty automatic security software finding "unusual activity" with my account(which is completely bogus, I have 100% perfect feedback.) Anyways, I don't see any unethical practices if I don't use a real name, as long as I'm sending out product that is described well, and having good customer service with my buyers. This is only a las resort, however.

I own a home. It has been empty since August of last year. We tried to sell it for six months, no go. Now we've had it on the rental market for nearly three months, and though there have been nibbles, no bites yet. We signed a year contract with our property manager, but not being rented after three months has me doubting their prowess. Do I have a right to get out of the contract, or am I stuck?

The house is in the Denver area.

As a loyal Hilton patron, I'm concerned that corners will be cut in providing the excellent service Hilton is known for, in an attempt to squeeze more profit out of the company for the private equity firm.

Will Hilton become another brand that USED to mean quality but doesn't anymore (like Schwinn and Hewlett-Packard)?

Basically if someone is asked to alter documents to show less sales tax received than actually received, and this person does it, how much liability is on them? Because if the person turns them in or refuses to do it they will loose their job, but if they do it knowing it is illegal how much trouble will they get in?
