I've accidently offended a co-worker by stating I'd rather have a more experienced teamate do the required quality checking of my work. She's pissed at me, how do I make her stop hating me?

You go to her, apologize, but don't make excuses....you were in the wrong and maybe you don't know ALL her experiences that would garner her the job, including personal ones...be humble, truthful, and turn yourself around to seeing the best in her without criticizing her more....she may become your best friend....you made a mistake, and usually it is not accidental and she would know that too....be humble..

You could just apologize and offer the explanation that your comment was not a reflection on the quality of her work, but it was a desire for someone with more/different experience to act as your QC person. Hopefully she will understand and not take your comments as a criticism.

Give her a bit to stew and then compliment her on the quality of her work and a couple positive things that you like about her.

Tell her that you didn't mean it and that she's doing an amazing job. If she won't accept your apology, then you can't make her change her mind.
