If I do dispute two enteries on my credit report for the same credit card company and they do validate it, will the statue of limitations start over??

2007-06-26 04:07:52 · 3 answers · asked by littlemaltese 1 in Credit

A few years back I fell into some financial problems, and ran up one of my credit cards. After months and months of fighting with the credit card people, I finally got on a payment schedule that I could work with. I do believe my interest rate was fixed for one year at 12%. Now with the year being over my rate is 29.something%. This tacks on another 100 plus dollars a month to the bill. I ran my credit reports and they all say something different, so I have no clue how to go about getting this lowered. Someone suggested I call one of those credit repair people, I am wondering if anyone has used one and if they helped.
I was just getting this balance down, and now it is shooting right back up and I feel like I'm never going to be able to pay it off. Any help would be great.

I am 20 and currently doing part-time work as a telemarketer for my university during the summer.

My vocal teacher offered me an opportunity to sing Soprano 1 at a church. You sing twice a day on Sundays and the pay is supposedly pretty good. However the church is located 45 minutes drive from my location. I don't have a car, and I'm not sure how long it takes by bus.

Would you try for this singing job or just forget it because of the transportation problem?
( I don't live with my parents either, so I can't ask them to drive.)

I read on wiki

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_bracket#Tax_brackets_in_the_USA

That when you move up a bracket, they only charge you the higher rate for the income that falls in that bracket... like the first 8000 is charged 10% and then the second $8000 is charged the higher rate of 15%

So why do people always say put money into a traditional RIA to "move down a tax bracket"

all you are really doing is avoiding $5000 of your money taxed at the highest tax bracket you reach, not actually avoiding all your money from higher rates am I right?

I'm having trouble getting assistance with my new web site. As a company you recruite business to sign up for a web page. However, it's been about a month and my site still does not receive hits. In my last conversation with the person who signed me up said that it could take 2-4 weeks before all of my search engines kick in. However, I'm very concerned because when I do a search using my web site in yahoo "npaurbanwear" no search in found. I'm paying for a priority search and the only hits that I'm getting is from myself, and friends. as of Monday I've only had 54 hits. I'm starting to feel that your company is only interested in signing people up, but not helping them be successful. This is not good for me and it reflects negatively on your company. I own a store in the Sunrise mall in Corpus Christi and a couple of other store owners have been asking me almost daily for updates because they are considering signing up. I have not said anything negative, but I hard to keep positive.

Recently, I have read many articles screaming the shortage of "qualified" patent attorneys and that there is a shortage of "talent" in this area. Now, I understand the "language" of recruiting/staffing and am wondering if this so-called "shortage" is real OR, like other so-called "demand driven" phenomena in law firm hiring just reflects the current attitude of the legal community--that there are 2 types of attorneys: (1) acceptable with proper pedigree that tends to favor privilege over all else, as it ignores that some very intelligent students may opt for a more economical approach to legal education as opposed to merely looking up the latest rankings; and (2) UNACCEPTABLE as not having the blessed five-points on the star, all of which tend to reflect acceptable class variables. I ask this because there are countless unemployed but FULLY LICENSED patent attorneys in my network of colleagues. Where are they? With the other UNACCEPTABLE but capable attorneys--in doc review pits.

I hear you are liable for 10 years to pay American taxes, even after you have become a citizen somewhere else.

If you don't pay is your only penalty being banned from returning to the United States? What further evil does the IRS do to Americans who have had enough of working over half their lives to pay taxes which funds illegal activity like Wars in Iraq and welfare for 20 million illegal aliens?

If you don't pay your taxes, does the IRS claim your social security, assuming it will still be around after the illegals claim $2.5 trillion if Leave No Illegal Alien Behind is passed?

I have a smaller house that I'm going to put up for sale. The basement has a 10x10 den, 10x18 family room, and a 12x16 workshop area. When I bought it, only the family room and den were considered in the square footage of the house. I've read online that to be considered "finished," a basement room needs to be heated, cooled, and have a finished floor. My workshop has all 3, plus a window. Can I consider this as finished square footage when I sell? Or is this up to individual appraisers and realtors?

I'm basically a technical/momentum trader and ignore most everything else, but I've started doing some research on other ways to evaluate stocks for trading. Do you have simple ways to identify each (PE ratio, PEG, earnings growth, etc.)

My wife ran up about $15,000 in charges behind my back over a period of a year and a half. So I all the sudden realized I owe this money and my credit score has now plummeted from about 700 to 500. The company I am dealing with is really pushing me to settle it for $6500, but they said that:
A. It may adversely affect my credit depending on my score
B. I will get a 10-99 form from Uncle Scam and have to pay taxes on that money.
I am not sure what to do. I am always suspiscious that it ISNT in my best interest to do something that the creditors are "really encouraging" you to do. I guess what I am wondering is how badly my credit will be damaged. I have read that when your credit gets to a certain level, it is actually positive on your report that you settled. I also want ot know if anyone knows how much I would get charged by the government via the 10-99 on $6500.
