I hear you are liable for 10 years to pay American taxes, even after you have become a citizen somewhere else.

If you don't pay is your only penalty being banned from returning to the United States? What further evil does the IRS do to Americans who have had enough of working over half their lives to pay taxes which funds illegal activity like Wars in Iraq and welfare for 20 million illegal aliens?

If you don't pay your taxes, does the IRS claim your social security, assuming it will still be around after the illegals claim $2.5 trillion if Leave No Illegal Alien Behind is passed?

US citizens are required to pay tax on worldwide income for as long as you are earning income and are a citizen. If you renounce your citizenship you become an expatriate. If the reason for renunciation is taxes, there are a lot of hoops you must jump through if you ever want to reclaim your citizenship. Details are available here:

Bye - I hope you like your new country. I'm sure it will be problem-free - and probably tax-free also.
