I am about to go on maternity leave. By law I am allowed to take up to 12 weeks off. However, I only have about 6 weeks worth of sick and vacation time accrued and my employer has informed that if I go on unpaid leave, whether it be because I choose to or because I have to (if I'm not well enough to come back after those 6 weeks) that I will have to reimburse them for insurance benefits they pay while I am on leave without pay. It sounds fair enough and I've tried looking up any laws regarding this but can't find any, and many folks I've explained this to find it suspicious. Thanks for your help.

i have this stock that is less than 2000 dollars, and Scottrade asks me to make it up to 2000 , otherwise, they will sell some of my stocks to make it a cash account

i am totally clueless; what should i do? should I send more money to make it up to 2000 dollars or just let them sell some of the stocks, and make it a cash account?

the stock that i have is warner brother company, the margin interest rate is about 10%

so is it worth to keep the margin stocks or sell them, so i don't have to pay for the interest rate?

I know that in regular accounting practices a credit shows a decrease in an account and a debit shows an increase, so why do banks do the opposite?

the following answer came back in response to an apt rental query. Tell me what you think..would YOU take this guy up on his offer?

Hi,

My name is William James.I am in my early age of 50s and I am an european . I come to the states often mostly for business purposes because I deal mostly in Furniture. I furniture to stores in the states and europe . Infact that is my family business cos we are from france. I bought a house last year in the states cos i love it there .It is peaceful and with a loving neighbourhood.

Unfortunately my Mother passed away on the 7th of May 2006 and as the only son in my family i have to go and take care of the family business back in France and i realised that it will be very difficult to supply goods to my clients again in the United states while am away and it will definitely cost me alot to come over to receive payments cos they pay mostly in checks and money orders .

Running the business from there it will be difficult and will be impossible especially the aspect of payment and i dont also want to lose my clients or customers there . So what i intend doing is that i am looking for some one to stay at my house free of charge. I dont want to sell the house cos i just bought it and i will have all the rest papers by August but i have ALL the keys now. I am simply looking for someone that is honest and trustworthy and clean for two reasons:

1. to maintain the house when i am away and
2.To help me receive payments from my clients within the USA on my behalf in his/her name and have it cashed cos they pay mostly checks and money orders and have the funds wired to me here in France thru money gram transfer/western union transfer . You dont have to pay me for the accommodation. its just for the purpose of keeping my business going on in the United state.and if you wanna keep this assignment as a job let me know so i can allocate 10% on each payment that you receive if at all you dont wanna live in the house or if you are far from the house.

The house is a great one, living room, bedrooms, bathroom, parking space e.tc furnished as well . If you want i can email you more pictures and if you are interested i will send the keys to you via courier so you can go and see the house. It is a very lovely house and there is no way you wont like it.

If you are interested in handling my business in the state and keeping the house neat, please send me your full name and address with your phone number and also for me to be able to no how far the place is from your present residential place.I am back in France. you send back your response to my personal email:(willie4usa@hotmail.com)
I've been hard hearing for 4 yrs so i won't be able to make phone conversations but i can always email you anytime.

Thanks

William.

I do definately go thru with eviction proceedings if it gets to that level the problem is with residents who pay, but pay late every single month, ex. the 10th. But I need to figure out a way to get these people to pay ON THE 1st, when rent is due. Different approaches as opposed to notices going out.

In situations where you've taken a full withdrawal from a 401(k) plan and had the check made payable to you, the plan administrator withholds 20% and that is sent to the IRS as a tax payment.

In the tax form relating to these distributions, it says that if you make up the 20% from another source and rollover the full amount, you MAY receive that 20% back as a tax refund.

Unfortunately, it doesn't clarify what they mean by "may." I'm assuming it means that if you owe any taxes, that money would be deducted from the 20%. But if you break even or are due a refund, you would get the 20% back.

Is that correct? Or does "may" indicate some other evil IRS reasoning?

I settled an dispute with verizon becuase they had sold my debt to a collector and now the collector damaged my credit score which is what I do not get since everything was fixed between me and Verizon. I recently paid the amount the collection agency wanted however the dispute was settled over 3 months ago. I just want to know how i can demand the collection agency to fix my credit score Since the problem had already been fixed. I just unfair that an $80 loan took 110 point off my credit score.

My husband and I just put a bid on a foreclosed home (this is the first foreclosed home we've ever bid on) on Tuesday. It's now Thursday and we have heard nothing. The house has been on the market for a while, so I thought we'd hear back quickly. Usually on other homes we've bid on, we'd hear back from the sellers within 24 hours. Is it normal for banks to take a long time to respond to an offer?

I settled an argument with Verizon about three months ago, in which they had sent me to a collections agency. So what I did was to settle the dispute with Verizi, once i did I called them and they told me that they would contact the collection agency and tell them to put me off their list. However now i tried to get a loan and they told me that i couldnt since my cerdit score was too low. They told me that my cerdit score had gone down more that 100 points over a simple dispute. So i called Verizon and they told me that everything was cleared and that nothing showed up in my account. So i went to the colections agency and they told me that everything was cleared in my account aswell. However i dont know why the collections agency deducted my point form the Crdit Beareu. Now i paid everything including the total i owed collections agency and I want to know that since I paid the total will my credit score go back up as it was 720??? Please help

When we purchased our brand new condo last November we were advised that the items completed in our walk-through would be completed within 30 days of closing. We closed Nov. 15th to advice from the real estate agent saying that the builder had always kept their word and nobody had had problems before.... here we are OVER SIX MONTHS LATER and we still have a list of items on the fridge that we have been calling and faxing and pressuring the builder over - our requests aren't unrealistic, we've actually dropped items that we finally decided "we could live with". Is there ANYTING we can do???

To top it all off... last week the main pressure valve for the emergency sprinkler system burst and flooded the entire bottom floor of our building (all 4 units including mine!) and it's now unliveable for the next month! ... they still don't know why ours burst etc... ANY HELP!?!?!? PLEASE!
