Here is the situation. The housing market here in NJ has dropped significantly in the past year, it is very much a buyer's market. The townhouse was built in 1987, and nothing has ever been updated. The kitchen and 2.5 bathrooms are way outdated from the 80's, the carpets need to be replaced, the floors are this cheap laminant from the 80's, the walls need to be spackled and repainted...

The seller purchased it for 260L three years ago, and now she's asking 306K. She has made ZERO improvements to it, and its obvious she put no money into updates and upkeep. I think its rediculous she expects to make over a $50K return in three years having put NO money into it, and the way the housing market is right now. In my eyes, the way the housing market is way lower now, she would be LUCKY to get what she paid for it 3 years ago. She expects top dollar for something she put nothing into. Who says she needs to make a profit?

Should I low ball her on the offer?

Insurance or laywer payout?
Not sure what to do at this stage.
Insurers are willing to compensate me for a fall.
Am getting conflicting advice.
Some say go to laywer for sure, insurance will rip me off.
Others say don't go to laywer as they will take a chunk of your compensation and you may be left with far less than the insurance offer.
In general which one do you think accept, laywer or insurer
I have been offered a FINAL settlement of $20,000 plus 3 months wages paid in advance.
$20,000 is for pain and suffering, i had a slip and fall on ice, all my tests are ok, i have seen a neurologist as i still get dizzy, word mixing probs, headaches, short term memory, ct scans are normal but i still have ongoing pain in my shoulder and neck and it is very painful, i may not be able to work in future because of this.
Neurologist expects i will improve in 3 months with the symtoms.
I spoke to lawyer and he thinks he could get me a LOT more for my case, he said the offer was very low.

I plan to scan old bank statements (from the last 3 years) into the computer so that I can save them that way, but do I need to keep the receipts that went along with them? I have the receipts for each month filed with the statement, but I wonder if having a copy of the statement is enough. Also, should I keep bank statements longer than 3 years? Please advise!

The circumstances are too drawn out to explain here, but my bank ended up depositing nearly $450 into my checking account that it shouldn't have. I figure they'll take it back eventually, but I assume that eventually they won't be able to legally.

My mom needs a job. She is homebound and in need of money to make the ends meet. We help here when we can, but there's no guarantee. She needs something she can do from home. Something she can start ASAP. Something that can pay some bills. Any suggestions/contacts???

A transaction went through from paypal that wasn't supposed to that put my account into the negative. I was told by today the transaction would be cancelled by insufficient funds and what money I did have in my account would be put back in. Today I checked my account and it says return of posted check/item (received on 6/19) electronic transaction in the cleared part of my account, but no money has been refunded to me. What is going on?

I moved in with my partner last year and rather than sell my house I rent it to a good friend. We both signed a tenancy agreement (witnessed by another friend) which I produced myself (not through a solicitor). Anyway although she pays the rent on time every month problems have arisen:
I went to the house last week whilst she was away (she knew I was going) and I was shocked at what I found. The bath (enamel) was badly stained and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months, the garden was over grown with weeds and there was rubbish which had fallen out of the bins all over, grass was growing out of the top of the drains, the washer (mine) was full of wet clothes even though she was away for a week (stank) and my neighbour (well, her neighbour!) told me that the back steps of the house are always covered in *** ends (I will not allow smoking in the house) and she never opens windows/curtains even in the very hot weather.
What do I do ??? I don't want to kick her out
