The first thing is ,,, the oil company does not make their big money from gas,,, the big wheels believe that that the american people will not boycot very long,,,, and they are right,,,
if you want gas to come down,,, then go on in to these big oil companies ,,, buy your gas ,,, but nothing else from inside the store,,,, buy the gas then leave and buy other things you need at some grocery store,,,, the main profit is not the gas on the out side,,, but all the things they sell inside the store,,, that is where a huge markup is.. some things as high as 400% ... and that is where they are makeing their money.

Hi all,

I'd appreciate your advice.

I have just got a new job as a Supervisor on London's busiest shopping street. I'm not sure how to cope and need help.

I'm doing 2 weeks training before I go live at the flagship store on March 6th, and have just finished my first week. The training store is much quieter than the one I will be in, but I'm struggling a little. I'm very aware that I need to learn as much as possible over the next few days, but the more I think about it, the more stressed I get.

My problem is that, although I've managed a (MUCH smaller) shop before, I find it hard to be assertive with the other staff members. In the past people have, not surprisingly, taken advantage of this, and I do not want it to happen again... I'm certain that my new team will do exactly the same if I let them. I need to change but don't know how to do it.

An example: yesterday I worked at my training store with sales assistants who have been in the company for years. I am obviously there to be taught the basics, but the fact remains that I'm a member of the management team. One of the part timers in particular is very bossy and seems to think that she gets the final word on everything. I need to assert myself as it is me who is meant to be setting tasks, but don't have the confidence to do it. If I carry on like this I will be hopeless at my store as staff will see me as a pushover. That would end in disaster.

How can I ensure that the flagship team respect me and listen to me? I've been considering having individual chats with everyone when I start, to get to know them and to lay down some ground rules but am not sure what to say.

I'm also worried about the more practical aspects. My merchandising is of a good standard, but I take far too long about it, spending too much time on little details rather than getting the whole thing done first. I know I need to stop that if I'm going to cope with the demands of the busier store. It's a habit I'm finding hard to break. Some team members have noticed this and I feel as though it makes me look incapable.

I'm not sure how best to organise tasks and make sure that everyone is doing them as they
should be. I will have to close the store, and during the last 2 hours of my shift will be in the office cashing up. The rest of the team will have to get the shop floor looking good while I'm away. If they don't respect me, they won't bother - so how do I make sure that standars are maintained?

HEEEELLP! x

I signed up for a new checking account because I could get $75. I signed up online, then I went in to a branch. I asked them if I could take care of my 'signature card' then and there. (Since I signed up online, I needed a signature to make it active) They said I could do the signature there, and they would fax it in. 2 weeks later I have several hundred $ in my account. I paid bills online, but every one of those payments was rejected, and now I have 3 charges of $39 from 'returned payment fees' from the places I was trying to pay bills to. That is $117. The account has a withdrawal hold, and they 'never received my signature card.' A main part of my arguement is that when I log into my checking account online, it says that all funds are currently available. The other part is that I was told the account was good to go as soon as I turned in my signature card at the bank. No account will give me back my $39, so is the bank liable for the 3 charges?

I ordered my bank statements from 2 years ago so I can dispute them. I know they are paid off and they say that they are in collections. I have no open credit cards and Sprint put seomthing on my report for 80.00 6 years ago. That I never knew existed.

My question is... I do have 2 closed acounts that I owe 2,000. on, 1 is a charge off. If I cleared off the errors and paid the 80.00 from 2000, will this up my score???? anyinfo..... will help!

I have a full time job where I participate in a 401K and contribute the maximum amount. I also work part time in my wife's sole proprietorship, but dont draw a salary. Can I sign up in the retirement plan in her company, get a salary, and contribute there too. If so, what are the limits, and is the financial advantage of this tax deferral offset by the higher social security tax that has to be paid on my income? Her SS tax is maxed out, so that her extra profit because of my zero salary does not create an extra SS contribution.

if you work 40 hours per week for 50 weeks per year that is 2000 hours. If you multiply that by $350/hour, it works out to $700k/year. I have heard most lawyers work more than 40 hours per week. So why isn't the average NYC lawyers average salary more like $800k/year than $125k/year?

There are a lot of scams out there. I once heard that most money making schemes ask for money from you so they can send you their info. That means they make their money off the info, not the service they offer. So I wanted to hear from real people that make real money.

She died 12/11/06. Income was from Social Security, retirement, and an annuity. I did her taxes online for her for the last few years and she always got a refund (about $2000). Would like to file taxes and add the refund to her estate - is that allowable? Do I just file electronically as in the past?
