If you have a W2 from your job you can't NOT pay taxes because they already know you worked. So I'd file if I were you, if not you're in trouble...If you make over $5000 you have to file.
(aren't you filing joint ??? if you have before and aren't going to now, then it's a red flag for the IRS and they'll audit you.)

Yes you have to file your income as well as his. You have a choice of filing jointly or both of you filing as married filing separately, but you'd almost certainly do better filing jointly.

You can't just say you didn't work when you did. What are you thinking? Think tax fraud. And if you got a W-2 or a 1099 for the $12,000 you made, then the IRS will have gotten a copy too, and will recognize that you didn't file on this amount and come after you for the extra taxes plus interest and possibly penalties. Not a good thing to have happen.

If you file joint, you'd have to show your income even if it was $1. If you filed separately, you wouldn't have to file if your income was under $3300, but the extra tax your husband would pay by filing as married filing separately would more than make up for what you didn't pay on the income that was under $3300.

If you don't file and don't pay your taxes the IRS will come after you and not only will you have to pay what you owe but there will also be interest and penalties not to mention you might get to spend some quality time in jail. Remember- the government always gets their money.

Yes. You both have to file. And, yes you both have to pay taxes. If you haven't been paying them all along you will be hit with penalties.

If you do not file and 'say you didn't work' that is tax fraud and the will eventually find you at which point you will owe back taxes, penalties and they'll potentially sieze your assets.

Just pay your taxes. You use the services they pay for so you should pay in your share.

if you make less than a certain amount you dont have to file...but i think that line is something like 8k, so you're above it and have to file. go to the irs website and check. also--word to the wise--NEVER eff with the IRS, they will ALWAYS get what they are owed...even its 6 years later, when you least expect...trust me.
