on a tax refund? A friend of mine told me she got $8,000 back last year. She has 2 kids, owns a house, makes under $40,000 a year and she's married but her husband doesn't work so won't file anything with his name on it. I was like wow that's good that she gets so much back.

I have 5 kids my husband works 2 full time jobs, he made a little over $40,000 last year. We only got back about 3,500. My husband carries all 5 of the kids on 1 of his jobs so they don't take alot of taxes out. Why do we get back so little?

Last June we bought a house and I thought that would probably end up getting more money back because of this but when I went to Jackson Hewitt ( where we always go) and explained our situation she told us that we wouldn't even get back 5,000. And that we don't qualify for earned income credit because we're over 38,500 but we could use child tax credit.

Does this sound right? Why do we get back so little?

Last year I was told I could deduct $5,000.00 without ever being asked for proof. If I donated more than that I should have records.

Is this true for this year? Please show me where it says so online if you find a place.

Why is it so hard to withdraw from your 401K? I realize that the purpose of the account is for retirement, but I want to use it for a down payment on a home without having to pay it back.

I'm a (and was in 2006) full-time MD resident, but my employer is in DE. My W-2 has state entries for MD and DE. Do I need to fill out an MD and DE state income tax form? Do I *also* fill out "credit for taxes paid to another state" for MD? Or do this inplace of a DE return?

I'm on 100% commission with a small draw and am totally overwhelmed due to lack of training. I've been there for 2 months and haven't sold a thing. What other opportunities are out there where I can make a lot of money in sales?

About a year ago, a lady I know (who is a corporate recruitor, not a temp agency) helped me to get a job by placing me in a popular bank. She decived me and I found out it was a temp position the day before I started and learned quickly what that meant. (Side note I will never be a temp again) Well, I worked my way up and became well liked and was about to take a permanent position...all was going well.

Recently I found out there is a hiring freeze and I cannot take the job that was almost mine.....my year I am allowed as a temp is up soon and I could literally get laid off anyday now. Can I collect unemployment or will they tell me to take another temp position. I would like to now if I can collect until I get a perm. job. Does the fact I was mislead about my job help my cause??

A SPECIFIC law, regulation, book, website, something would be most helpful because I can't seem find it myself. Thanks in advance!

He didn't read that you had to have a qualifying child in order to take this credit. What will happen when he files and he puts that he was getting that amount, but then he's going to have to put that he actually didn't have a qualifying child? Does anyone know? Will it just take away from any amount he was going to get back??

I am a stay at home mom selling products on Ebay to make money but having a hard time to say the least. I can't find enough good products to sell for reasonable profit due to high listing fees and wholesale prices being too high. It has also been difficult for me to find local wholesalers. I am close to giving up because I do not think I can make a part time living at this. My husband is a good earner but I will only stay home if I can put at least this amount away toward retirement etc.

Best Buy sold me a $25 gift card for itunes that doesn't work. I e-mailed apple and they said that the code on the card is valid and active. I know I am doing everything right when I redeem the card online but, it keeps on saying the code is invalid. Best Buy refuses to let me return the card and apple said there is nothing they can do. What do I do?

Me, my mother and two sister staying for 5 months in our new condominium. It's only one bedroom( the whole second floor + small bathroom and kitchen + dinning room for the main floor) . We've been paying almost $2,000.00 a month + $170.00 for H.O.A.(home owners association). Without swimming pool or a nice garden. When I saw an apartment costing the same thing as we have it also have a gym and other amenities. This condo unit is eating our savings. I don't know what to do?
