Anyone have good or bad experiences to report? I'm trying to make a decision that will save me money so I don't want to schedule an appointment with a consultant.

I use H&R Block but because of changes in tax laws the way the site presents its questions has changed which makes me uncomfortable but this probably holds true in all the tax return companies. If you go straight to the H&R Block site it will charge you but if you go to irs.gov and click on Free File it will send you to a site where it offers free filing from many sites including H&R Block, probably TurboTax and many more......

Actually this is the link right here:
http://www.irs.gov/app/freeFile/jsp/index.jsp?ck

Hope that helps!

H&R Block is reputable but they've just gotten into the on-line game. I've used TurboTax for three years and it is very easy and intuitive. TT also uses (free in many cases) "It's Deductible" that allows you to maximize donations, etc. The version that I got this year included for free It's Deductible and the State tax application. With TT you can apply electronically and have your taxes deposited directly into your checking/savings for about $30 total. TT with the complete package will cost about $49 to register (addt'l to the e-filing option). They'll also (if you make the appropriate selection) mail your disc directly to you next year. Whichever route you go, keep your receipts for the software, e-filing as these costs will be deductible next year!

Happy Taxes.

Last year for the first time I used H&R Block on line, it was a piece of cake and totally free. I have heard a lot of people like Turbo Tax, but it does cost for the program. H&R Block stands behind the customers, on-line or in person.
Hope this helps

take my advice, go to H & R block in person, if you get a red flag they will fix it for you also if the goverment decides you owe them money ? & you are unsure what & where that is from ? H & R block will fix it or/ pay it if they cannot find the answer for the IRS...
