they will weigh it at the post office
you can use a label with places for the recipient and
your (return) address.
the post office even has envelopes and boxes if you need them
it can't be liquid, perishable etc.
they have options like certified, registered, return receipt on the package, first class, parcel post, express mail etc. all with different prices.

The packaging has to be secure so it won't come apart as it is being shipped. Put the recipient's name and address in the center of one side (only one side) of the box. Put you return address in the upper left hand corner of the same side of the box. Make sure there is room in the upper right hand corner for postage, Make sure any other markings on the box are thoroughly crossed out. Then take it to the Post Office and they will do the rest. I usually send things Priority Mail. It costs a little more, but it is faster. The Post Office has free "flat rate" boxes for Priority Mail-- the rate is for the box, no matter how much you stuff into it or how much it weighs. Otherwise, the rate depends on how much the package weighs, how fast you need it to get there, and whether you want to insure it, register it (for tracking) etc. Most packages that aren't too heavy or going too far cost well under $10. Good Luck!!
