Am selling house I live in which I half own with my mother although she lives in her own house. Have been told liable to pay about £18,000 apx CGT, as she bought it with my father 13 years ago - I then rented until 6 years ago when he died and half share of house transferred to me. Does anyone know anyway of reducing this tax please?

My boyfriend and I live together and he has been out of work for a while. I pay 100% of all our expenses, including his child support payments. We are of course unmarried. Is there any way that I can claim him as a dependent on my tax return?

Or the UK at least.

A local company has won a large long term contract from Germany. They would like to hire a German speaking employee to service this contract. They have been told by the local employment authorities that they cannot specify this requirement in their advert because it is discriminating against non-German speaking applicants.

Are other countries afflicted by such barmy laws that have been foisted on them by such short-sighted politicians.

My wife and I are moving out of state , I will still be working for the same company but they promised to have my w-2 to me with my last check of december or the first week in ( I know they have until the 31st legally) jan because for a while we'll be in a hotel. I have my w-2 from last year, don't do penison or get health deductions...so would it be a issue government wise if I filed without having my w-2? I mean I don't want to get into trouble but I also need to file soon , since my bank account is going to close and we'll have no "home" address yet. Thanks!
