While the market does have lots of Subways, the fact that the chain promotes healthier eating in a society today that is more aware and more receptive to eating healthier foods, I think that opening up a subway would be a good idea as long as you find an ideal location-by a train station, busy road, in a mall, perhaps.

You've already got an audience for Subway-plenty of peopel like it and eat there includind myself because of the good menu. Jared's promotions and advertising is strong and right now there are no major rivals to Subway. Jimmy Johns, Potbellies, and Quiznos, while sandwhich places are good, they don't offer the same type of menu and food pyramid benefits.

Hope this helps and all the best! Subway...Eat Fresh!

I know someone who owns a couple of subway stores. While they are fairly easy to manage and own, I was very surprised that the profit margin was so low. I had expected that owning your own store would be so much more lucrative. His two businesses do well but he only brings home about 2 thousand dollars a month from each store. I own property and I bring in about $1,200 in rent. To me the few hundred dollars isn't worth the stress of owning a business. My real estate is low maintenance and fairly easy and nearly just as profitable as the his business without the worries.

You could make money if the Subway is in a place where there is a lot of walking traffic and it is very visible from the road. You have to make sure the employees are very customer service oriented also, that can make or break your long term profit!

Location, location, location. As long as you have a lot of foot traffic during lunch time, you'll probably do well. You might want to meet with your local SBA to do some research on how that market is doing in your area.

It all has to do with the location.
