I'm 23 years old, and I'm 1500 dollars in credit debt. It's impossible to find a renting place for an apartment with the bad credit, so I come to the friendly people here for some advice. Is it better, in the long run, to pay off the credit debt myself, or to go to a debt reduction agency and have them work with me to get it paid off?

One of a few ideas I have for a career option is to start a small furniture company that specializes in coffee tables. I would have a specific design with a few custom features. Could I make a decent living off of this? How could I get at least 4 tables sold a month. I know I would be limiting myself with only offering coffee tables, but if I could make beautiful models, could that be enough for customers to order a piece from me?

I filled out a 1040EZ form for my 2005 income taxes. I forgot to include one of my stock accounts (I have 3), and now the IRS is claiming that I have to pay taxes on the entire amount of a stock sale (to include the principle; not just the gains). Is this right? On my other stock accounts, I was only taxed on my profits. Is there any way to correct this? Also, I don't have a 1099 form. Is there any way to get another one?

Hi Everyone

I'm looking for a Business name that will also be used as the product line name.
My company is focusing on making/distributing patient "gowns"/garments mainly to individuals, doctors offices and hospitals...they are made to keep the patients' dignity/modesty while having invasive/potentially embarrasing procedures done...

some ideas to get started are : preserving dignity, covering everything except what is necessary, cultural sensitivity, helping to break down barriers to obtaining medical treatment (ie. many women in our community dont go for mammograms b/c of having to uncover with male staff for example, etc)

I'm looking for something that sounds professional and catchy

I LOVE 1. wordplay or 2. metaphores (ie. silhouette, shade, eclipse etc) and/or 3. words that start with the same letter

can anyone HELP me?
i'm OUT Of ideas and need a name ASAP
thanks so much in advance!

I am with a debt management program that consolidated my debt. One of my debts is a credit card with Bank of America. This account has been through two different collectors, NCO Financial, and National Enterprise Systems.

When I attempted to make payment through my program to these collectors they both denied the payment and returned it to me.

I was recently informed by the debt management company that NES had closed the account. I called NES to ask what happened and they told me they had returned the account to the original creditor.

It's been a few months and I have not received any official notices or documents from BOA notifying me of their possession and terms for my account/debt. The debt has appeared on my online bank statement, but not on my paper mailed statements.

I have read it is illegal for collectors to not properly notify you about your debt and their terms for collection. BOA has not. Do I contact them or wait for them to properly contact me?

My mother is Black and Native American (her grandmother was Native American), but we just call her and her family Black; Whatever, I really do not care about that. My father was born and raised in Jamaica, but his father is White (Scottish land owners) and his mother is Hispanic (her parents were from Cuba). My father considers himself Black though since his great great grandmother or something like that is Black, go figure. My father and his family just look Dominican (yellow, light, and sometimes just White skin with black curly hair). Anyway, my mother is getting on my case because I consider myself Black & Hispanic, am I wrong?

I just registered a small business and now would like to open a business checking account. I have been going to several banks in my area to find out which one is best. I am down to three options now.
1. Smaller bank (lack of features) but the banker has been very helpful in answering my questions (and had helped me in registering my business), so I feel I owe him.
2. Large bank (good features) and offer a great incentive of opening a new business acct.
3. Large bank (good features) and has the most ATMs and branches in my area.

Questions:
1. Is it okay to use more than one banks for my business account?
2.What happened if finally I only use one and let the other ones without activity?
3. Which bank would you choose for your small business?

I am now legally divorced, but when we separated, I did not cover my a@# financially. My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer, so I was not concentrating on the separation and left with my 2 kids to be with my family. Before I could cancel anything, he overdrew our joint bank account and the car in his possession was repo'ed, but both our names were on the loan. All of this is stated on the divorce decree, but that doesn't protect me from the creditors. Anyway, now he has filed for bankruptcy. So I am afraid the creditors are going to come after me. Should I file bankruptcy too? I refuse to pay for debts that were his alone, plus I can't afford it. Any suggestions?
