My husband and I have 9 children together. People are always teasing us about allowing them to claim some of our children on their taxes because (they say) we can only claim 2 of them anyways.
First of all I would NEVER do that, I know they are just teasing but what is this about, (us only being able to claim 2 of our children)??? We have always been able to claim all of our children and don't know what the dickens they are talkin about.

Please only serious answers.
Does anyone have any idea what they mean?

I had a lot of medical expenses in 2006, however I did have insurance cover some of it.

Do I claim only the expenses in which I paid out of pocket for, even if there is a balance due at the end of the year?

I can also claim copays, prescription costs, medical items need for procedures, correct?

What proof do I need to show for expense to travel back and forth to doctor offices?

I read the information on the IRS site and I'm sorry to say I'm too thick in the head to understand it.

Thanks.

I just made an offer to purchase a coop on Sunday and the owner accepted the offer on Monday. The broker (seller's) called me right away and wanted to set up an appointment for me to sign a lead-paint waiver form and she's pushing me to find a attorney so that we can have the contract ready to sign by the end of this week.

This is my first time buying a home. It's not like buying shoes. I want to take time to make sure everything is done properly. I explained to the broker and she kept telling me that there's another offer. If I don't want it, I shouldn't drag the process. Is there any way I can slow down the process? I still want to have a contractor look at it and negotiate the price with the owener. How should I do it? Any suggestions?

I'm looking for work. I haven't found something I'm satisfied with, but I know there will have to be a time when I must take whatever job is before me because "I need the money." I'm trying to figure out at what point that is. What magic dollar amount in your savings account is the red flag?

I am NOT talking about emergency money. I have that already, locked away and ready for a dire emergency. I don't consider job hunting a dire emergency.

There is a certain dollar amount where I start to feel uncomfortable if my savings should fall to that amount. There's no financial reason for feeling uncomfortable at that amount. I just do. I can live perfectly well if my account should fall below it, which it has. But I'm wondering if there's a financial rule, a smarter rule, you can give to know what amount to flag as too low.

I have a job offer that I don't like, but it is the only thing that is a sure thing right now. How do I know if I have to take it because "I need the money?"
