I work in a customer service call center for a large international bank, I deal with local customers in just a couple of midwest states, and I have never realized how little common sense poeple actually have. If you have a bank account, a place where you keep your money why do you not know the access information?

I understand not knowing the account number off the top of your head but I just cannot understand not knowing it at all, and I am not expecting them to know about banking at all I just cannot understand not knowing your own personal 10 digit checking or savings account number

Bob J, let me just tell you, not all bank customer service reps are bad. Personally my customers love me. I am not the type of person who shows them my frustration with the situation, thats why I vent on here. ALso, it sounds like you need to find a new bank.

I think it's the same thing to be standing in line behind a customer in the store who waits for the total before digging for their checkbook and then digging for a pen. Was it a suprise that the cashier actually wanted money from them??? I don't think common sense is very common.

What I want to know is why I have to enter my account number 3 different times on the same answering system, then give it again when I finally get a customer dis-service rep on the line who gives me attitude?
Don't you get it, I am allowing your bank to hold my money for me. Maybe if you'd improve your attitude you'd stop annoying the rest of us.

Well, the thing is everyone who works with the public asks the same thing about their particular business. You think people inside a fast food restuarant don't make fun of you and wonder why you don't know that mustard doesn't go on a jr. whopper? People have expertise in their own field, and don't understand always the inner-workings of other organizations, especially if they almost never deal with them. These things are annoying but keep your sanity knowing you are helping people.

I know exactly what you mean and the answer is laziness and a sheer lack of common sense. It's a pity that common sense is such a rare commodity these days!!!!

Sometimes I think people assume that you know what they are calling about before you pick up the line.

Keep in mind one thing: The average person is very very stupid.
