With inflations it would seem difficult to save enough to retire at 62 and live till 85. How many Walmart greeter and McDonald jobs will there be when job seekers over 60 out number teenagers?

The trend seems to be that when people "retire" they're only retiring from a job they "had" to do or that they "had" to do a certain way. A lot of folks are moving into the career they want when they turn 65.

It might not pay as much and might only be part time, but it's what they've always wanted to do. And with their 401(k) and social security it seems to be working for a lot of people.

The problem is that people used to only live a year or two past 65 when that was set up. Now people are living to 90! It's likely the retirement age will be bumped up to 72 sometime soon.

There's research out there which seems to indicate a job during retirement can help one be healthier. The days of jobless retirements are pretty much over in coming years.
And one need not be concerned with the number of Walmart and McDonald's jobs. There will be enough work for everyone!

I would hope that people only use jobs at McDonalds or Wal-Mart as "starter jobs" and move on to something better way before they retire!!! If you're counting on winning the lottery, you're drinking too much kool aid !!!

Good gawd no... I have saved, hoarded and invested for most of my life and I will be sitting pretty at retirement no matter what comes my way ! I choose to make it a good one and will blame no one but myself if I need food and clothing later.

: )

Life's an investment.... add to it !
