For the personal (non-corporate) investment account of a Canadian resident/citizen, are gains in the US exchange-listed bullion ETF (ie. SLV, GLD, IAU) securities taxed as capital gains (ie. 50% inclusion rate)??

The reason I'm asking is because these funds are not registered
investment companies, but are structured as "grantor trusts" instead.

I know that other US and foreign equity ETFs are legally
recognized as "registered investment companies" and are thus exempt from the "foreign investment entity" legislation which could otherwise cause for onerous taxes; so
ETFs and closed-end funds which are registered investment companies benefit from the same tax treatment as Canadian stocks with respect to dispositions (ie. simple capital gains w/ 50% inclusion rate).

But do these "Grantor trust" strutured metal ETFs (ie. GLD/SLV) also benefit from the same favorable tax treatment (50% inclusion rate of realized capital gains and nothing else)?

I was divorced earlier this year. My husband and I filed our 2005 tax return jointly so I filed an injury to spouse allocation form to recieve my portion of the tax return. ...so I thought (as did my CPA). When my refund never came, I called the IRS and they said that an injury to spouse form only prevents you from being responsible for any of your spouse's debt. They informed me that they could not split up the tax return and that they had sent the entire refund check to my ex's address. My ex, of course, said that I wouldn't see a penny of the money. My question is...do both parties have to sign the tax return check for it to be deposited? And if so...is it possible that he forged my name and what should I do if that is the case?

Our nearly 14 year old homeschooled son wants to become a lawyer. I think by 15 or so he should be interning or volunteering or otherwise working with a lawyer/law firm, but don't know how to arrange this. I don't know how to suggest he arrange it, either.
He reads constantly, history, politics, law, military history, and philosophy mostly. He's also in homeschool theater, getting lots of
What should he/we be doing to get him on track for applying to college for 'pre-law' goals?
Thanks so much for your time.

I was hired by the contractor to build fences and decks for his landscaping company. I am not a licensed contractor, nor did I make any claim to be. He has refused to pay for all the authorized extra work due to changes and additions to the originally planned deck. How do I recover the lost wages????

I am broke and sick of thinking about how to make a little money. I'm more into making it in an original way and starting something for myself than constantly relying on work which I do for other people!

If you have any ideas and feel open and generous about sharing them, please do.

How I can make him understand that the way he is treats us is very wrong?

I bought 3 policies, one in 1955, one in 1957, one in 1968 for my children. Said policies to pay 800 dollars for each child on their 18 birthday.
My copies of the policies burned in a fire. My children are 51, 49, and 38. To date they have received nothing. the insurance company denies ever having sold me the policies. Has anyone else had this problem and what did you do to resolve this. One of the agents who collected the money each month is still living, but I have not found his new address yet?

I had my last bill when i left Powergen. They charged me nearly £600 of which £508 was gas. I checked my old bills and i found i used only 2500 units last year now its 17000. They have estimated my bills up until my last bill. Am i up the creek without a paddle? What would be the best way to try and get this bill down?
Cheers in advance!
