My father recently passed away. He had a living trust (not a will). Left his estate/money to my mother who wants to disburse it now to surviving children.

In California, how much of this (living trust) money can we receive before we get taxed on it? In other words, could we receive, say, $20,000 and not be taxed?

I have almost 9k more in student loans and I'm paying almost 100 a month. This isn't a lot compared to some peoples loans, but when you pay 1k for rent and utilities then an extra 100 hurts the team. Anyways, my question is when you consolidate student loans does this affect your credit score? I have over a 700 rating and if this does affect the rating I'd rather stick to paying 100. Worked too hard to get my credit up and rather not take any unneccessary hits on it. Thanks in advance.

I got an offer from an international growing investment management firm to work in their Tokyo branch for 4,500,000 YEN / year which equals to $38,000!! A big slap on the face considering the company is pretty reputable on Wall St.
I got another offer in one of the Big 4 accounting firms for $55,000 in the west coast. Which you were me, which one would you choose?

ps. if anyone knows the average salary in Tokyo for finance, that will be a very helpful information.

Ok, so I'm a teenager and this is my first job. Of all places, I work at the illustrious Burger King. As of right now, two months after getting hired, I hate my job. My general manager is a total yuppie and everyone I work with is some kind of social outcast who dropped out of school to have a kid. I'd like to think I'm the only person there who will graduate college and have an actual professional job, but who knows, maybe I'm just unhealthily smug.

Question is: After only working for two months, is the fact that my job makes my life miserable a good enough reason for quitting? I don't have another job lined up at the moment, but I could put in applications at quite a few places. Right now, the income isn't essential, but certainly helps. Would I have to use them for references -
all in all, do you think it looks bad to quit?

Thanks.

I have a $5 bill from 1928. The serial number and US seal is printed in red. Is it worth anything now or later? How many millions of dollars can I expect to receive when I sell this thing in 30 years? I would like to purchase a small island off the coast of Florida if possible.
