Ok, so I'm a teenager and this is my first job. Of all places, I work at the illustrious Burger King. As of right now, two months after getting hired, I hate my job. My general manager is a total yuppie and everyone I work with is some kind of social outcast who dropped out of school to have a kid. I'd like to think I'm the only person there who will graduate college and have an actual professional job, but who knows, maybe I'm just unhealthily smug.
Question is: After only working for two months, is the fact that my job makes my life miserable a good enough reason for quitting? I don't have another job lined up at the moment, but I could put in applications at quite a few places. Right now, the income isn't essential, but certainly helps. Would I have to use them for references -
all in all, do you think it looks bad to quit?
Thanks.

Hey. Put in your appllications immediatly before u quit. Try a supermarket, another fast food resturant or somewhere where your friends work. But dont quit your job before you get another one, unless u r having trouble in school. Remember A's look better than a job when getting into college!!!

Quit. You're only a teenager. Working, especially if the income isn't essential, is for experience. Have a fun holiday and get back to it after the new year. And it is, after all, only Burger King. If you're as bright as your writing indicates, and as far as my experience on Answers, you are the first teenager on here who is capable of not only spelling words correctly, but being grammatically correct and formulating two whole paragraphs that are actually intelligent, you will have no trouble finding an even better job. Happy Holidays!

Like everyone has said it is BK and if you hate it then quit. I had my first job for over a year but I loved it, I started off washing dishes and then moved up to cooking.
My advice find a good part time job that interests you, during high school I worked for so many places on a part time bases (programming, hardware setup, cooking, waiting). The more jobs you have the more types of people you will meet. If you like the restaurant industry my advice is to work at a small restaurant (I started off dish washing at a golf course) hopefully they will teach you how to cook. Cooking is a great skill to have especially in college, you don't have to eat mac'n cheese unless you want too, you can work a part time job, also you can impress the opposite sex.
Try to pick a job that you will like; if you hate it after a will then quit. No one cares what part time jobs you have in high school.

Hey...if you still live with your parents and dread going to work everyday, quit your bk job cuz it's not worth of your misery. Find a new job at retail store or other fast food like McDonalds. If you have a situation at home, you probably have to wait until you find a new job. Quite a few places are not even enough; you need to apply and apply as many as possible.

Ok, you are a teenager. But by the language you use you are an intelligent teenager. Welcome to the working world! Get ready for tattle tales, back stabbers and losers. My advice is do what everyone does, and PLAY THE GAME. Look at each lob as a stepping stone to the next level. Don't berate those you work with because they are not as smart as you, because it does not work well in the workplace. Take the cash and move on. Good luck!

This is Burger King you're talking about, right? And you only have been there a few weeks?
That being the case, not only is it okay to quit your job, but you have the luxury of being able to go out with a bang (as long as you stay within the law, and consider that whatever you do may go into some sort of employment background report).
You can quit any job at any time. Two-weeks notice is a nice courtesy.

I've been in your situation before. All I can say is that NO job is worth feeling miserable over. Going to work every day should not stress a person out!! No, you would not have to use them for a reference either.
You sound like an intelligent person who's got a good head on their shoulders - you know what to do :)

Quit if you're unhappy. You can always look for another "pocket change" job if the income isn't "essential" now.
Believe me, staying in a job that makes you miserable doesn't do you any favors.
And it doesn't "look bad" to quit from Burger King. High turnover is the norm. It's a fast food place fer cryin out loud!

First off, it sounds like you think you are better than those you are working with. You need to step down a few steps of the ladder. Keep with the job you have now. You have not been there long enough to know one way or another. Hey,,,, this is life. You will be meeting all kinds of people. Sounds, also that you need to do some growing up.
