I've had a series of jobs and after a while it seems like people start to disrespect me and stop taking me seriously. I am a very good employee, smart and I work hard, but for some reaon I have never been given any promotions at any jobs I've had and after a while I just get so frustrated that I end up very negative at work and end up quitting. I'm too old to keep quitting my jobs, so what am I doing wrong? What do I need to do for people to start taking me seriously?

enough and you don't get full time but still your hours and days are spread around different. I don't have a degree or anything so I'm stuck with unskilled jobs such as retail and no transport except walking and the bus and on top of that live in a bad area and can't be out alone at night so therefore can't go out to work overnight or anything. I generally work early afternoon till 10 or so and thave to take a taxi which is expensive. I have to work on weekends and have a job that does not tolerate any lateness or excuse because of another job even though I am considered part time and I have to put this job first since I have been there a while and have some benefits. I also have a child who doesn't live with me and I need a day a week to spend with her and also have social life time. There are alot of stores in my area but just like the one I work in they want people who work eves and weekends which I'm already doing at my other job. Any ideas on how to make some money?

We recently got a new manager at my job. One of my co-workers, who is definitely a troublemaker, is constantly making snide comments and trying to get her in trouble. She pretends to be nice to the manager. There have been other instances where she has backstabbed people and told lies too (said they were racist etc).

Do I tell the manger to watch her back?

In a couple weeks I will be working in a call center. I'm afraid of being improperly dressed (whether it be under-dressed or over-dressed). Obviously we will not be meeting face-to-face with customers, but there still probably is some sort of dress code to keep employees looking and acting professional. Can anyone who has worked or currently works in a call center tell me what kind of attire is suitable for this job? Thanks!

So, when this company contacted me over the phone to offer me a job interview, they told me to ask for Mr. X the day of the interview, because he was going to do the interview. I went to the interview, and after it, I wanted to e-mail him a follow-up letter. However, I remembered that the man who interviewed me never introduced himself. I guess he forgot and I also forgot to ask him. I just assumed he was Mr. X.

Now I’m in a dilemma. Should I send the follow-up letter to Mr. X, even if I’m not completely sure he was the one? Or should I call the company and ask for the name -if so, how should I do this?

PLEASE, any good idea will be appreciated.

I have an employer who has said they "cut the check" for my business. I know I won't receive this until after January 1st as they have left town and won't be back until then. I am sure i will be 1099'd for this in 2006 - do I count this as 2006 income or 2007 when I receive it? Thanks!
