I have a new business and need to do some face to face marketing to businesses to bring in clients. My specialty is not marketing. When I walk in their door what is the best approach to use to get them to talk with me so they don't just turn me away? A good opening line would be helpful too. My business is offering mortgage loan processing services to mortgage brokerage firms. Thanks in advance for your advice and help.

Over the years, I’ve heard hundreds (if not thousands) of people state they like Burger King hamburgs but don’t like their fries. They further state their desire for Burger King hamburgers with McDonalds fries. However, your average person is not going to travel to both restaurants and wait for each item as the other gets cold. This is where my ingenious idea comes to play. I will reconstruct my kitchen room & dining room into restaurant fully equipped with tables, stools & chairs. I’m going to hire 2 teenagers that will travel to McDonalds for fries & Burger King for Burgers every half hour. This brings the 2 products to the customer – nicely, quickly & hot!!!! What I need at this point is information where to buy the large McDonald and Burger King signs they have outside their restaurants to put outside my house. Where do I get them?

I received injury money, enough to pay off my house. All financial advisors and accounts adivsed us to put it in Roth IRAs. We did that. I am now having second thoughts. If I were to take out only the $110,000.00, which I received tax free due to medical malpractice settlement, do I have to pay taxes on that amount upon withdrawl. It was tax free money when I received it.

We are a small cabinet company that serves high end clients. We have had a really slow year and as a group want to market our company more. However, the owner of the company does not like to spend cash to earn cash. What recomendations are out there? We would like to start the first of the year but we have been given no green light due to budget issues. Any advice on this issue would help. Thank you.

My husband landed a job interview last week with a great company. After the initial interview with the Human Resources dept. at 8 a.m., they kept moving him along on 5 more interviews until about 2:30 p.m. that day. He noticed that most people left right after the HR interview and he seemed to be the exception. As he progressed, they kept asking him if he was still interested enough to talk to the next person. He said he replied an enthusiastic "yes"! The final person asked him when he would be available to start and the salary desired. He was able to give a start date, but wasn't sure if he should give a specific salary amout because he wasn't given any clues as to how much the job paid. They told him they would be calling as early as Weds. of this week and today is Friday. Should he call them to check in and let them know he is still quite excited about the position, or any other ideas about how to sound enthusiastic without being "annoying and pushy". THanks!

I recently applied for unemployment here in Illinois, but received a call from their office saying that I have to have a hearing scheduled two days after Xmas(which really messes me up finanically) in order to dertermine if I'm eligible due to my being discharged. The reason for the discharge was poor performance, and the HR dept. at my past job along with my past supervisor were the ones that suggested I apply for benefits in the first place, so obviously they wouldn't have an issue with me being eligible. It just seems like a bunch of red tape, as it wasn't anything intentional or gross misconduct or anything of that nature, as I left on good terms, it was just decided that the work load may have been a bit much for my skill level. I want to contact the employment office and tell them that the company told me to file in the first place, but would that even have any impact on my having to attend the hearing or not?
