We are a small cabinet company that serves high end clients. We have had a really slow year and as a group want to market our company more. However, the owner of the company does not like to spend cash to earn cash. What recomendations are out there? We would like to start the first of the year but we have been given no green light due to budget issues. Any advice on this issue would help. Thank you.

Try to come up with an effective but inexpensive marketing campaign and find some funding for this effort. Track the results carefully and when the campaign is complete show your manager and the owner of the company the return on that small investment and use this information to make your case for a larger marketing budget. You could also try to find some case studies that show where firms similar to yours had positive results from investing in marketing activities and resources. Good luck!

That's tough to answer without knowing the pipeline.. Are the products distributed through cabinet dealers or sold direct to the consumer?

Do market research to see what specific areas to market to. The Small business bureau should be able to assist. They should also be able to provide some numbers on how marketing can or cannot prove to be better for business.
