I just got a letter from HM Revenue and customs saying that i have to pay £293 to them because i havent paid or been credited with enough National Insurance contributions to make the year 2004-2005 count towards my basic State pention! But i was in uni 2003-2005 and only worked part time for christmas at sum point 2005 so i dont understand it. Is this right? and has any other student had this letter? Why should i have to pay for not working? I was a student that year??

Recently I have finished a website and I would like to have it advertised in different locations mainly facebook or myspace directed towards college students, but I do not have enough money to pay those companies, which is a couple thousand dollars. I have various ad banners within my website and I would like to see how I could possibly obtain a sponsorship to pay for the cost of my advertising and I would use the sponsors ads in about 80% of my ad rotations. Thank you.

We are married, have one child. Would we go with "married filing jointly"? Or would he just do head of household and I do married filing jointly. I'm confused.

I am 63 years old, and I have a pretty good private insurance plan. However, other seniors keep asking me if I have Medicare. I know absolutely nothing about Medicare and Medicaid. Is eligibility based upon age, or income, or both?

I am a 28 years old and currently have a job as a resource room teacher at a public high school in NYC. I am considering going to medical school in the next two or three years. I am taking some pre-requisites and boosting up my GPA before then by taking some courses in the evening while I work.

I'm also considering on purchasing a property in the South because it seems really affordable and I'm getting approved for a mortgage to do so. Do you think it is wise to purchase a home or condo NOW if you have these professional school aspirations (medical school) in the future?

I own a house with my ex and it was a council house. We got discount as he had been renting council property for a while. If we sell the house his arguement is he should get a larger share as its his discount. Is that correct??

My fiancee owes $10K on a charge off auto loan. Basically (and I know this doesn't matter for the loan's sake), in 2003 she was dating an abusive deadbeat who coerced her into cosigning on an auto loan he couldn't afford by himself. He didn't make the payments, and the truck was repossessed. The credit companies went after her since he had no job and no money. She also had no money at the time (she was in college) and the loan was considered a charge off.

I just found all this out recently after applying for a mortgage. When I submitted the pre-approval application, I found that surprise, and saw we're supposed to pay it off to get the mortgage. Is it possible to get the mortgage without paying that off, since I'm the primary borrower and have nothing to do with the charge off? We both have excellent credit scores and good jobs, the only black mark is her mistake when she was in college -- but our ability to repay the mortgage is as good as it gets. Does this matter?

Thanks!
