Me and My husband just married and need some help creating a budget!!

You guys are on the right track for sure. But I haven't found any good software for a family budget. Everything is either too little or too much for me. So what I did was get a free Excel spreadsheet budget and modified it to suit me. It is very simple but If you email me I will share it with you. It's half a page but you could modify it to add or delete items.

Please get Dave Ramsey's book The Total Money Makeover and read it. It is written for people in debt, but it changed how I look at money. Also, he is live on radio every day. www.daveramsey.com

As snvffy pointed out, there's no cookie-cutter solution. To each his/her own. Since you pointed out "free", I guess your best bet is to go with what you have. In case you already DO have Microsoft Excel on your computer, you can customize it to suit your specific needs.

If you don't want to start from scratch, there are several websites where you can find free basic templates that you can download and use on Excel. If you don't have Excel, you can do it online with Google Docs and Spreadsheets.

In any case, I recommend reading a few good online articles about making a budget. I know this good finance blog that has a couple of articles on the topic. It's listed below.

go to a class on money managment they usually have some free advice and software for starters
