My father and uncles would know how to build a house, and they would be willing to build one for me. If I bought the land, and told my family what I wanted in the house, would that be cheaper than buying one?

How much work would actually be involved with it?

I moved in with a friend, signed a new lease, eff Nov 15th. Her previous roommate has moved out.

The two of them painted the entire apartment, which will probably mean they will forfeit their damage deposit. Why does the previous roommate get to keep $250 (the full half of her deposit) regardless of if she has made damages or not?

Now I will have to pay $250 to move into an apartment without starting with a clean slate, what do I do when I move out and do not get a reasonable portion of my deposit back due to things she did b efore I moved in?

In the US please. Also consider public transportation and the cost of the purchase of a single family house... not a mobil home. We are also very interested in safety with levels of crime being low. Not too humid, not too hot or too terribly cold. We'd like to have cultural facilities and events nearby too.

Need an example for a Motion to reinstate case for a chapter 7 bankruptcy case that I am helping my son-in-law file. We missed the deadline for filing the credit counseling report with the court. When I explained to the help desk that we were in the process of getting the counseling, but that it would not get to the Bankruptcy Court until after the deadline, she stated to "just get it here asap." This I did, but now the Judge has dismissed the case. I am trying to reinstate it and send the credit couseling certificate again to the court. Thank you for any help, stephanie

I want to start getting out of debt so we can afford some stuff for ourselves. I feel like I need to pay these debts off and then think about what we need in our home. I mean we have food and clothes and all but, just the things that needs replacements like furniture. How do I go about getting out of debt quick but not paying everything at once? I really don't want to deal with a debt counselor.

Most people who draw social security get a "return" on their money of less than 1%. For many, the return is actually negative (they put more in than they ever get out.) You also don't have any control over how you get your money out. (You can't for example, take a lump sum to buy a home and avoid financing.)

---- If you could get out of social security - just take the money you've paid in to this point and walk away - and never draw any social security retirement money - would you do it?

Allright, I'm guilty of this. I filed an extension in April and pre-paid the amount that I thought would be due. After that we moved and got really busy and I totally forgot about the Oct. 15 deadline to file my taxes. Now I'm afraid to even look at how I'm going to be penalized for this. Anyone know what the penalties are? I think I've already paid all the taxes I owe, but haven't filed a return.

Tacoma area, painting or warehouse or anything w/ money. Don't care if I get dirty. Not afraid of hard physical work. Just can't take my job anymore. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Job hunting online 2-3 hours a day not working either. Please help! Aloha!!
