My friend recently got denied unemployment and she needs some form of income while looking for a job. Any suggestions for short term income?

She can register for temp agencies. They have a lot of short term contract positions while she is looking. Also, I hope that she has a family member that can help her with her finances because she must have quit her job that is why she is unqualified. If you quit your job, the unemployment office won't pay her at all.

It's Christmas season, your friend shoudn't have any problem finding a job right now. If she does, she might not be interviewing well and in that case she needs to find a organization in your area that help people find jobs by training you on how to interview. Even little pennyaney jobs need for you to interview well. These places will also help find you a job in your field of interest or skill. If you are in the Chicagoland area, its a bunch of organization like that.

7-11 will hire people on the spot. So will many places like that. Take an interim job like most people do and keep looking for something better.

Have her go to the mall. It may seem humiliating, but it's really not that bad of a place to work--and I hate malls! They have such a wide variety of shops that she can find something that interests her, and then try to get a job working there until she can restart her career.

Most retail and food service employers will take anyone who walks in the door to start immediately. She can work a crap job until she finds a real one.

While looking for work I gave plasma (I was getting $50/week doing it twice) and I worked for a temp agency where they can get you temporary all kinds of work at all different kinds of places. The one I worked was called Manpower but there are several different ones.

the easiest answers are pizza delivery, newspaper delivery, house cleaning, fast food places, yard work, temp agencies. her objective is cash flow not long term careers.

she could go to a labor ready place if theirs one in her city. the find temp jobs and usually pay that day. Or she could go to the social serviese ( wellfair office) and apply for some kind of wellfair and they usually help you find a job to . hope she gets back on her feet
