What time should i leave home to get started for this big sale?

Store hours varies at each store, i.e. Best Buy, Circuit City, Macy's, etc., but they generally open at 5AM, 6AM, or even as late as 7AM.
You should go camp out in the wee morning hours of Friday, if you’re a die-hard. But if you just want to go to see if you’re able to get anything, then just be there in line at about an hour before the stores open. However, be forewarned that there will be A LOT of waiting - waiting for parking (for a space far, far away), waiting to get INTO the store, waiting in line to pay, waiting, waiting, & more waiting. I would suggest you get there at about 3:30AM, if you really want to get the "hot" items. You have to experience this once to know that I’m not crazy.

Most of the stores in the Metro Detroit area open at 5:00 AM, so if you're planning to brave the crowds I'd suggest you set your alarm for 3:30 AM; 4:00 latest.

look at local ads for times, each one is different. Some 24 hour stores are always open, but start sales at certain time.

Each store is different...you need to check the ads that come with local newspapers or in the mail. You can also check on their websites...normally they open at ridiculous hours and you certainly will not be alone waiting for the doors to open. Be careful not to make it on the news by fighting over certain items that seem to be too great.

it varies, some as early as 5am. Get a paper on Thanksgiving and the ads will have the times in them
