I am an assistant to a very busy business owner. I do anything that I'm asked to do. But a lot of times, my boss get too caught up in her own work to stop and assign anything to me. I feel like I'm being lazy and she's doing all the work. I don't try to do this. When I go to her office to get some work to do, she tells me to come back when she's not so busy. I often times sit with nothing to do, feeling like I could be punished at any time for not doing work. What should I do?

I am in the market to buy a house. I would like to know what economists would suggest on how much a person in his late 30's should spend on a house? - I mean, the percentage of his gross income.

The plan is both a long term and short term proposal which we have drawn up to maximise the potential of our AS children and young adults. We are now in a position where we need funding from companies and public sector organisations. We have sent an application off to Children in Need and the Lottery, but have not had a reply yet. Can anyone suggest places to send funding requests too?

i heard that it is illegal to charge someone a different rate, or to add in extra charges if someone pays for something with a credit card VS cash or VS personal check. anyone ever hear this, or know if it's true? i'm sure it varies from state to state, but any info is appreciated.

for example, i'm buying metal from a distributor, and they want to charge me an extra 3% to use a credit card as opposed to cash or check, because the vendor is telling me they LOSE 3% to the credit card companies. not normally a big deal, but this is over $100,000 worth of metal!!

thanks in advance.

I'm trying to help my dad come up with a plan. He's 63 years old, could probably retire now, and is weighing a lot of options but I don't think (and he agrees) that he's able to really weigh his options objectively. He needs to go somewhere and put all his chips on the table and seek serious help with advice. It has to be somewhere/someone with good references. Please help!

I am trying to discuss with him how to plan a budget but I have no idea how to go about it as we are at different financial levels at this time. I am just about debt free from slaving away at two full time jobs to pay off an incredible amount. I am happy that I reach this point but at the same time I don't have anything saved up except for an EF and a $401k with matching program at work. I am still staying at my job. I make less than my fiancé but have the whole benefits package and incredible health insurance coverage as the company is above market level.
He is a home owner with a crazy mortgage and the house in need of TLC. At this time has no retirement vehicle set up. He does have a good job with dependable income. I want to set up a finance budget that will put each other in the best interest and yet at the same time none of us get the short end of the stick.. We live in California where real estate is beyond belief with high prices

I want to target real estate agents and help them with administrative work. I want to be certified as a virtual assistant, but wondered how necessary it would be to obtain that right away. I have an Associates degree and a Bachelor degree. I also have about 7 years experience working as an Administrative Assistant (or similar). I work full time right now, so I wanted to do work primarily online and part time. How do you get it off the ground? Where are some good places to market yourself, cheaply?
