I suggest you start by reading your contract. Why would you sign a 12 week contract and want out after 3 weeks? What kind of work do you do? Is your reputation important?

This may be a dumb answer, but what does the contract say? Are there penalties for leaving early?

What does your contract say? Or ask Human Resources at your company.

READ THE CONTRACT. Most temp agencies are "at-will", meaning you can leave at any time, without cause - and they can "let you go" at any time, without cause. Watch yourself though, because they may not be able "find" any work for you from then on.

It might be: if you get paid weekly then it's a weeks notice, if you get paids monthly it's a month.

(Not dumb - previous) Notice required on either side should be written into your contract.
